Old winged tyrant and winged carnifex

Hey !

I have several questions.

1/ So I found a metal hive tyrant converted with wings (those round folded daemon ones) and I was wondering the legality of it in any game.

2/ Also is it okay to put wings on a walking tyrant (new kit) or is it illegal in a tournament?

3/ Also Also I always had a flying carnifex in mind. It was the very first tyranid that I saw and it blew my child mind. It was so cool, it had those crushing claws as legs, amazing wings and it was posed like a falcon ready to catch a prey. 

(saw it around 2008 in a mall in Ottawa or something canadian if anyone was there around the time and has a picture).

I was planning to reproduce that for the sake of nostalgia and I was wondering if I could use it in a tournament too.

4/ If so should I do it hovering really close to the ground or should I do it high in the air and do a harpy proxy?

Hey!

If you ask me any Tyrant wheter standing on the ground or on its Tail is a Flyrant if it has wings and a Walkrant if it doesnt. I saw Swarmy posed on his tail like a Flyrant and nobody had a problem with that. Tho id ask your TO about that beforehand, just to be save.

About the flying carni. Id say you could make decent counts-as-Flyrant if it has kinda the same size as one

Agreed in the above on the flyrant.

As for the carnifex, build it however you want and let the TO know in advance if you want to run it as a carnifex. Most people really like seeing conversions and unique models so they'll be excited to see your kitbash. Play wise, you'll be easier to see and target, but it will be easier for you to see around corners so I think it's a wash and not modeling for advantage.

Yep, Flyrant should be fine, but check with the TO as with anything that deviates significantly.

Carnifex, if you want to run it as a flying carnifex, no. No significant tourney would let you make a flying carnifex as there are no official rules for it.

If you wanted to run it as either a flyrant, it has a similar profile so that would probably be permissible, or a walking C-fex they would probably be okay with it because you are basically making the model WAY easier to target than if you had built it normally. Noone could accuse you of modelling for advantage there. Again though, giving the TO a heads up on the request is the best plan.

I think I'll magnetize the carnifex's wings and make it slightly more elevated.
Would it be acceptable to remove a carnifex's wings so it fits next to other units (or building) during the game? Since it's per rule a carnifex.

I don't see why not. Especially if you hide the magnets on the carapace so it doesn't stand out that something is missing.
