No more HG/TG?

So I've had an order in with an online retailer which included a unit of HG/TG. I have just had an update that GW has advised them that they're now 'out of stock online', instead of 'temporarily out of stock online'. When they queried this, they were told it's a discontinued product for the foreseeable future, as such they've refunded the item to me.

Given this, I'm hoping that it's a product re-design which will be re-released with the new codex, but could be a potential removed unit in the new codex?

Almost certainly a reboxing. I can't see GW dropping one of their top sellers and a lot of our line are getting their new boxes/sheets included.

Sorry guys I'm confused. What do you mean dual box? Aren't they already a dual box kit where you can build them as HG or TG?
Unless I'm severely mistaking what's being said.
I distinctively remember having TG parts in my HG kit if I wanted to build them as such

You are not mistaken. Purestrain probably just forgot they were already in a dual kit. It happens.

As far as the box goes, it could mean one of several things. While it is possible that HG/TG are being discontinued, I find that extremely unlikely. GW simply does not like removing options from codices when modes are already available. The other option you guys listed, a redesign of HG/TG, is also unlikely. They are already in a dual kit and it is fairly recent as far as tyranid kits go. Unless they pick up a third gun option there is no reason to redesign this kit.

What is more likely is that GW is changing the box art or updating the assembly instructions with the weapon stats (or both). This would be done to prevent people from being confused by picking up old kits.


The really telling thing is that GW was thinking of reprinting the HG kit up until late February. The fact that they were thinking about a reprint of old HG this late probably points to a later release. With this information I wouldn’t expect a new codex until April, maybe even May. If we get previews in March (which is entirely possible) then I would expect the codex in mid to late April. If we don’t get any previews in March then it’s a May codex.

That it continues happening is actually a good sign I think. It means that people who haven't yet been jaded by GWs vagueness and behaviors are excited enough about the game to speculate.

Yeah those of us who have been through these cycles edition after edition might be tired of it, but whether it is someone who has played for a long time but is getting deeper into the hobby and just noticing these things or someone who is brand new, it means that someone is getting more excited about it rather than less and that is nothing but good for the hobby in general.
