Pauper Princess Process

Will be Taking this list to an GT this weekend. I have had a few testgames and it is promising. The buggies are a bit odd in the list but they provide a bit of stability.

Drills are amasing.

It is fun with summoning the cult and by that get your heavy weapons in range.

I will play with a secret secondary that can be either TTL or a killy one.

Looks nice.
I would run the RR's are 1 unit. I guess you split them to make the Neophytes + acolytes your TTL but I would rather shrink the Acolytes to under 220 and have the RR's and Neophytes as TTL. Even with 5++/5+++ those Acolytes should not survive. They are to much of a priority target.

Are the Saws because of model limitations? If not I would never uses saws, to much -1D in the game. Stick to Cutters and Drills. (and only cutters in PP and custom cult because hitting on 4's is not ok)

Are you walking across the board with 2x10 Acolytes and 10 Metamorphs or gambling on 8" charges? Both don't really feel great and again, 5++ and possible 5+++ only goes so far. Even just a single truck for a squad to hide in can go a long way.

Yes the saws are models i have. And I still think thay can be useful. But they were the last unit in and replaced  flamers that I had that I did not like all that much.

I split the RR partly for TTL yes, but also for engage. The solo one has spotter so it can sit way back in a corner and fire. I also think 2+1 is easier to hide, obviuosly.


The big acolyte unit is a TTL unit and likely to die, i know. I have to trade cleverly with that one, or use it very defensive is possible. If I park it somewhere safe when they drop, then run and charge next turn, then they can return to shadows. But, they will probably die in many games.


I have started with PSG and metas on the table. PSG do raids. Metas watch the castle. They are a good ” second charge” due to fight in death and interrupt so they will threaten midboard objective T2 or guard the fort.
Everybody choses assasinate against me, so I can choose a defensive style and keep stuff hidden, for countercharges.


I think the list works best if I keep the army together so I hope I can do that. That way the Iconward can help, with the chargerange as well. But I do not like 8 or 7” charges. So I will try to avoid it and keep stuff on the board.

I do not want trucks in this list. When I get more reps in and for the future, I’d like the buggies gone as well if possible. Just have more core for buffs, and no torget for the big Guns. But we will see how it evolves after this week.

So the GT is over. It did not go well. I lost 4 and hade one draw. It was tight games most of them but there were fundamental issues with the list, and even more issues with me making silly misstankes with rangers of auras and overestamating shooting.

The problems with the list: The buggies. They lacked support to get exposed and even crossfire sometimes and that hurt them. They benefit nothing from the cult, PP. If you bring buggies, take anather list.
I wanted to have some shooting, but I had to few ways to get stuff exposed and even with summuning the cult-tricks I managed to do they often had to move the neophytes so they were back to hit on 4 or 5 if there was a forest.

The 15-man drill unit, as discussed, was hard to use properly. Sure, it killed stuff. But them almost instantly died even if had given them 5++ and 5+++. 

PP is good, a guy went 4-0 with them, but I think a different version then mine is needed. Either go all horde with 3 UNITA of neophytes with icon or drop the TTL idea and go all acolytes, metamorphs and stealers and just keep one unit at home, and mayby a big bikesquad to get some durabilty.

Summoning the cult is strong. Iconward and Icon brought a unit of 1 neophytes back to almost full over 3 rounds.


But is hard to play, it falls apart easy. I had fun but am really disappointed at my results.

Sorry to hear you are dissapointed by the result. But it sounds like you had a lot of fun, and you leared new things. That is always interesting, for me at least.

I 100% agree with ridgerunners needing something to trigger not just crossfire, but also exsposed. At least for the lasers, they have such big bell curves with 1d3 attacks and 1d6 damage. All stapeled on BS4+. If you have exsposed and a crossfire you now hit on 3+ and damage on 2+! Use raking fire and you are now re-rolling the 3+ dice. Some sett up and 1 cp and it is an entierly different ballpark.


I do not know if rocket launchers need the same ammount of back up. 3 shots and 3 damage is much better. They do very different things though.

To triger exsposed you almost always need to have a small acolyte squads with flamers pop up. In theory you can use the scout move to move to the right and left. Perhaps a look out person to give more range. (Although i LOVE the flare launcher.)

PP bikes with Power Weapons and GLs and 2 Wolfquads.

Give it 5+++ via biophagus, then 5++ via relic. Then bring an Iconward

Now it's a thick -1 to hit, 5+ 5++ 5+++ 4W/2W unit that gets d3 models back every turn that shoots ok and melee ok.

Great for midfield, small tussles, obj contesting.

Metas are great in PP because they become budget TH Purestrains, so consider them for general damage. Stick them in a truck to drive them out safely and watch them peel stuff later.

Bikes give Exposed on a target enemy to the rest of army for 2cp, although you can't Raking Fire then, but its something. Also small Acolyte units work well too.

What you can do with your 15 man kill squad is drop, charge, kill, straight away Return To The Shadows. Drop it again next turn for either a 9" charge or drop safely so they don't die.

Abbys are good in PP too don't forget. Hitting on natural 2+ is so good for them, even if they're a bit expensive. Drop the chosen 5+++ on the bike squad, then biophagus down with Abbys to give them another 5+++.

Good suggestions, thanx. Big bike unit is a tempting alternative and I agree on the metamorphs being great with S5.

New verions of the list could either go more in to MSU and even bring a Lying wait unit of neophytes to do crossfire, lurk in the Shadows, steal primary and moveblocks.

Go with the bikesquad and Biophagus route. We will see.



About coming from DS-ambush and returning to shadows i asked the TO in advance (who is a very good with rules and a judge at wtc) and he ruled that that would not be alowed but coming from blipps and run-fight-return would be allowed. I expect it to be FAQ-ed this way.

This is one option I might go to inspired by Kaze’s respons above.
Big bikes gets vaccine before game. Abbys when they arrive.
Bikes make a big footprint so I’ll give them from every angel to keep them alive. I drop Patriarch and only have units of 10 ”throwaway” acolytes.
The lying in wait neophytes are a thing I’d like to test. They could possibly steal two objectives if people do not screen. Otherwise they can moveblock, create some screen for lurk in the shadow trickery etc. They are there for a test.

I will be taking this list to an RTT. It is similar to lists I played before, but I have removed RR, added a truck, no Patriarch and doubble metamorphs. I have practiced a few games and I start to get a hang of it. You really have to get you points and keep it cool as you pack your models up during the game. Using lurk in the shadows and return to shadows is key.
There will not be Tau at this event, they had an early cut off date, but some custodes and Drukhari so I’ll face tough opponents.

After this weekend I will go in a more shooty direction.

Played the RTT with the list above and it was fun and I did ok in the games but in the end I lost 2 and won only one and I want to do better. The list depends on you making good choices and knows your opponents units well. I lost to two different kinds of Drukhari. One Thick City and one more msu style with helions. I was not prepared for this and made bad choices resulting in 4 Talos in my deployment zone turn 2 in one game and when I failed my 3d6 charge there things got uggly. In the other I had a good start and should have used that but instead I got a bit cautious and he got back at me and managed to take over the board and I crumbled. 
The PP-process takes a pause here for me. I will go to Hivecult or 4AE now. 
I Might return to PP later, because it is a strong build, for a more skilled player, but now I need some more seriuos shooting to help me.
