Wish for 9th codex, spread of monsters?

While designing my crushr stampede list a thought struck me. I do not understand why so many of our big monsters are in the hevay support slot.

Back when they introduced trygons they certanly fit into heavy support. (Imperial Armour Volume Four - The Anphelion Project I belive.)

Would it make sence to move trygon, or the very least the mawlock to the fast attack slot? They are fast, they are not very though and one of them do transport duties. Just a though. It probably will not recah anyone who it will have an inpact for the codex for. But I would have liked to see the humble mawlock with its D1 weapons in fats attack.

I write my own fandex for each edition just for fun (rules writing just interests me, and I teach in a game design program) and yeah, breaking up the Heavy Support slot focus on monsters was a major focus of my 9th ed fandex.

- Carnifex + variants went to Elite.

- Trygon + Prime went to Fast to ensure we have Synapse in every slot.

- Mawloc to Fast.

- Not a monster but I also sent Lictors to fast and gave them a scout move because our Fast section is real sad.

Back when I started playing, when the new carnifex model was just released and they wanted to sell lots of them, one could take Carnifexes with less than a certain point cost in upgrades as Elites instead of Heavy Support. So one could have a whopping 6 fexes in an army, with two ripper swarms as troops and two hive tyrants leading them. :-) Ahh, those were good times.

But, yeah, I love that the Dima, a big honking superbeast is a Fast attack slot. Makes my life so much easier when trying to fit my army into the Heavy Support slots.

Yeah that was the 4th editon codex. I playes vs it.

Yes it would!

And I think Carnifexes should be troops if OOE is HQ. Would be great.

Yes it would!

That would make more sense than the glorious period of time when Tervigons were good AND could be taken as a troop.
Yeah, C-Fex is the basic troop of our monsters. We can already take what, 36 of them? Not much point in keeping them in something other than troops to limit their numbers really.

I would love to see them drop several points and change into troops so you could truly run a dedicated Nidzilla list.

I really like the idea, but I also think that a <100pt T7/3+/5++ model counting as 16 Obj Sec bodies with Levi's strat is super broke. I really think CS needs the only base Tyranid relic/wlt/power/strat treatment, but also give CS a relic or two to compensate. Getting Obj Sec Carnifex fixes the reliance on the Obj Sec strat, so the loss isn't bad.
