First attempt with new codex. TH aggression

What do you guys think of this list?
Without an actual codex and battlescribe its tricky so please tell me is it is wrong and give me feedback.

I have many ideas to try, but the first one is a full scale, cutthroat, CC approach.

My vision is 3 waves of big units crashing into my oppnent while msu stuf scores point. Hopefully the abdominant and Patriarch will stay alive long enough and when the dust settles, they will clear things up.

How do you plan to work the Nexos and Primus in time with your waves?

Nexus to regenerate cp and give crossfire of needed.
The primus mostly helps the acolytes, so he start in ambush with them. Abberrants and abdominant goes in truck for a second wave with the trap acolytes if i go first.

If i go second it will be a deny game until can get the acolytes in and then follow up with the Abberrants.

Is my plan, will try it tomorrow.

You prep for crossfire but has nothing that benefits, even if you setup Exposed. Get more of those mining guns into the list, even if there's a -1 to hit, you kind of need that support.

4 bikes + 1 quad gives you slightly better durability for nearly same points but more importantly, access to better guns.

9 Abbies is a big investment. Downgrade to a 5 man, bring an Abom with them, out in a Grinder. Grab 6s explode instead of fnp + cast 6s explode, have fun with Abom buffing rerolls. Use the points for guns. Use Time is Nigh for no need Might first combat.

Consider seriously bikes as a melee unit here. Bikes can take power weapons and hit at S5 -2ap 1D, specifically in TH. It's a little surprise no one expects from them esp after you throw the demo. It's also easier to get buffs on them with Nexos.

I would consider dropping Nexos with Primus on T2. Yes you don't get cp regen on T1, but you get to extend his aura and wound rr to other core not nearby. Not mandatory, just an option.

The sanctus is just a good unit to hold a home objective, being safe from >12" shooting. Ridgerunners want crossfire and you want to be able to hand out Crossfire to things your going to charge, both to disable overwatch as well as fight last.

Even a pure melee list would want to have sources of Crossfire.

I will try my version tomorrow. (Mayby mix SAW and cutter to get a feel for them). 
The key point otherwise is the abbarents. If I keep them then i want many and sort play the list for them. 
Another version of the list is, in line with what you suggets, ad lasers to the neophytes and maybe metamoprhs for Core keyword that benefits from Primus. 
But the I like the abberants and they look like really good at killing big stuff.

Then I'd play Abberrants as an Anvil - 10 man unit with 5++ and 5+++, Abom to make sure they stay hitting hard no matter what. Bring Grinders to take advantage of vehicle no move penalties, and the free reroll wounds. Ditto on bikes with Mining Laser, and RRs.

Then work out the rest of the melee and how it will work, ie how you deliver them. Use the Abbys to shield your characters, and the RRs/Grinders to give Lurk to the Abbys. I highly recommend making use of single Demo + 3 Drills as an Acolyte charge component, and you can reroll to wound on the Demos specifically while the Drills can benefit from a Biophagus giving them exploding 6s via Familiar injection(or Alchemic Supreme) (but realistically they benefit from everything there).

The Aco/Neo units are too small really profit from the Iconward, imho. Way too easy to lose whole units. And generally not really worth it without doubling up on the summons with banners.

Purestrains are the #1 unit to profit from running TH. One unit with "They came from below", one unit with "A trap sprung". Maybe one more unit in a Truck.

Not sure about running an Abo for one unit of Abbys. He really shines in Bladed Cog.

First try today did go well. It was against eldar who struggle with a bad codex so it was a nice start, but the aberrants di good work and the wave on wave concept worked.
Crossfire and exposed is strong mechanics. Stronger than I realised and I might want build in just a little bit more of that.
The patriarch and Abdominant did work as I hoped and was the last wave in to his home ground.
I might try this list or a version of it again and use in an RTT next week. Then I think I will switch to more MSU. I believe we really can play the game of being everywhere...

Today I will try this. Added a Rockgrinder. Want to test it and also transport the iconward so he can buff a T2 charge.
Added more flamers
Added a familiar to the biophagus so he can buff the stealers, even if they run away.

I will play a RTT the coming weekend. GSC is allowed so I’ll try a version of the list above. Two testgames tells me that abberants are good but I feel that they are a bit ”all or nothing”. So I decided to go all in!
15 abberants. 10 in a truck. 5 with abominant in Grinder.
If I face flyers I’m probably screwed, because I hardly have any shooting. So let’s pray to Stargods that I only face opponents that likes a midboard brawl. That would suit me nicely. 😄

In the final moment I added a Locus. I own one. It looks cool. I never used it. It would probably be better to use 5 acolytes, but… YOLO! Thinking he’ll stick around the Patriarch.

After this RTT I will go more towards a balanced list, and ditch the abberants and test that stule.


Mission are 3 with good secondaries so I’ll go for mission secondary, strangelhold/engage and ROD. That should give me good score there so It’l be down to scoring enough primary/deny my opponent to score. I hope I’ll be able to steal some points to the glory of the Stargods.

Any Tactical tips? The list is submitted so I can not change unless there are something wrong.

Whats the reasoning for your plan upgrades? Perfect Ambush on the Genestealers? Crossfire and Exposed which they don't use while gambling on a 8" charge? I would seriously consider switching them to They came from below to allow them to work as a first turn charge threat to give your opponent more things to be scared about. If you don't get first turn (or don't have a good charge) you can put them in reserve anyway or put them somewhere safe.

Lying in wait on flamer Acolytes can be nice but you don't need the range and the unit benefits a lot from getting Exposed so they would be, imo, the ideal candidate to get Perfect Ambush. You can't steal objectives with them like you can with lying in wait but you can still come in outside of 6" and use flamers with +1 to wound, important on str 3, or more likely put them at 8. Flame something and then try for a charge.

And incase you have the models I would take Drills over Cutters. I hate having to hope for 6's but hitting on 4's is very rough. And you already have plenty of Damage 3 with the Abberants.

Thank you! That was a missprint from my part regarding the upgrade on stealers. (Have not learned the names yet) And good point on the lying in wait. I´ll change that if I still have the time. Which I think. Think It will be locked by midnight today, not yestarday that I first thought. 

I do not have drills and I actually had to change to saws in one of the units, unfortunately. The 10 points i got from changing to better (or correct) upgrades will i Spend on demochages for the jackals. Could come in handy sometime mayby.

Tried this list in a RTT today. Played Necron with silent King and 2 Custodes. Ended up with winning to Necrons. One loss and one draw.
Takeaways: all there took assasinate so I ended up playing my characters out of the game. I might game more on that from now on.
Custodes and necrons have lots of obsec. I did not. Obsec is king now.
Everybody gets surprised at how durable Anberants are. And the pack a punsh. If you are chassing podium places in big tournaments then mayby they are to expansive, but if you like a solid anchor to build your list upon then a bunch of Abbies med even a Abdominant with amulett is solid. They will take some effort to remove and if you can use those rounds to score they’ll be a good unit.
I missed some shooting. I should get some neohytes or buggies in. Only used the locus once and even primus was a waste in this game since he followed the 10 man acolytes that charged and then died som he was left stranded.

I really think two big units of abbies can work. Take them and then lots of small shooty neophytes, bikes and buggies and possibly one stealer squad.

But I’ll try a different style first.
