How powerful will the 10e codex be?

Starting a thread for predictions (or guesses) for how powerful our codex will be. Based on the little we know what are people thinking for how powerful we'll be?

I'm thinking we're going to be average or underpowered and this codex is going to be GWs first real miss of 9e.

I imagine if there is anything strong in it the tournament bandwagoners will do what they do:

1. Abuse broken units that get immediately nerfed.

2. Abuse mechanics and list building, spamming the creme of the crop, creating a new FAQ.

3. Dumping that trash back on the pile and leaving the GSC playerbase with a smoldering pile of dogpoo.

So we are skipping the upcoming 9th ed codex and predicting for 10th? I like your enthusiasm ;-)

I suspect on the day of release the GSC codex will be a solidly average performer with one or two standout units which will likely get nerfed in an FAQ within a couple months. It will settle somewhere around the lower half of the mid tier armies.

I might upgrade my estimation based on any upcoming previews but the one mechanic they have shown us so far, while good, is not adequate to make up the deficit the codex is coming from on its own.

it already looks like you just bring 4 webbers and 4 mining lasers in a 20 man of neos and crossfire anything into painville.

Pretty sure the stratagems will be the horrible icing on this cake, the guns/melee weapons we have and stats on weapons are pretty good as is, just costed oddly (or poorly)

Everything I've seen seems ok, but not great. I'm also concerned that as we're not getting many previews (especially compared to Tau) that not much in our codex is changing.

After today's preview for brood brothers I am going to guess lower tier to trash.

yeah, I'm going down to Underpowered. Yeah BB are getting better than they are, but not by all that much. We are still losing half the faction bonus to leadership buffs which are all but worthless this edition.

if they buff the tanks to 3+/5+++ -1d id be happy enough to justify buying them in the first place, but they'll need some real neato changes to melee units for me to give a (please do not swear) about them on the tabletop.

Its actually a nerf, because you can't bring any support elements like bullgryns, psykana, ratlings, planes, commissar. Its worse than right now before considering locking Crossfire - you can't even bring an aux Baneblade like before without penalising your army.

I really hope I am wrong, but it looks like the codex isn't going to be much of an improvement.
Sure, we get some nice stat boosts, but the new stuff (crossfire included) is pretty lackluster, and if we lose a lot of what is actually good in the army, (Lying in wait/Perfect Ambush) we won't be any better off than we were before. We were already in the garbage, and losing our few good things will only keep us there. Genestealer Cult needs help to be relevant, and what was shown doesn't elevate them much.

Again, I hope I'm wrong, but it's not looking good imo.
