Are other hive fleets dead ?

Hello

All the question is in the subject. While Octarius give us wonderfull tools, but essentially for leviathan, do you think other hive fleets are definitely dead ?

Or did you find interesting tricks with synaptic link and other hive fleets ?

Top end competitive wise, I think the go to is leviathan.

Otherwise, I think the other hive fleets still have a lot of life. My personal go to is a custom fleet with 6+ invul for gaunts and an additional AP if you outnumber in melee. The synaptic links breathed a lot more life and tactical choices into the list. For the record, I generally play casually competitive, where I'm trying to make my own lists but am also trying to play the best I can.

Dead? No: Kronos can still definitely have a place, Kraken maybe as well. But definitely on life support

I modified this list from one I had been running at 1500. The idea of the list was to run lots of 6+ invul bodies that also had a punch to them.

The hormogaunts are used as a screen if the enemy will be charging me or to soak smites. They can also be used to lock down enemies or to try to get points for engage on all fronts early on. Generally, they'll die quickly but that's ok.

The termagants are used for damage, clearing enemies or taking objectives.

The genestealers are there for a counter charge or to get engage on all fronts.

I'm not 100% sold on having the warriors outfitted for damage but I'll hold them out of line of sight and move them around to shoot a bit as needed.

The zoanthropes are there as a source of synapse and to give more smite damage.

I've only been able to play the 2k version once, but I really liked how I could use the synaptic link to apply buffs where needed to delete enemy units.

Kronos and Kraken are only made better by this supplement. Whether one chooses to play them or not comes down to play style preference

In comparison there isn't as much flexibility as there is in leviathan, that being said, warrior linked hive guard or carnifex in a kronos detachment should do work.

A nightmare to behold could be the custom HF of Scything talons ap-1 and outnumber your opponent +ap-1 on genestealers with a warrior boost its just insane, ap-2 with full rerolls to hit, or ap-2 and 6s to wound are ap-5.

It wouldn't have the explosive force of leviathan, but then again you could just pay 2cp to give them outnumber is +ap-1 so claws do it anyhow with the tesla slaps

I have had fun with my warrior spam running the biometalic cysts and pack hunters for AP-2 17-point warriors. The prime synaptic link helps them out a bunch against tough targets.
