What is the best Warrior build?

What do y’all think is the best way to outfit a Tyranid Warrior?
Scythed talons and bonesword/lash whip; or
Scythed talons and devourer; or
Two sets of scythed talons?

It depends upon your end goals for the warriors based upon the rest of the list.

If you need cheap synapse or a cheap synaptic link, then go 2x talons.

For damage(ish) go boneswords + deathspitters/a cannon of your choosing

If you need a "speed bump" then adding lashwhip/boneswords is a good call.

Depending upon points, you can also mix the equipment: for example, do deathspitters and scything talons.

Theres also the question of unit size and how many units you wanted to bring.

This question is a little too complicated for a simple answer.

Scything Talons and LW&BS is probably the “best” right now. They don’t have the volume of fire needed to make the guns worth the points with BS4+. Attacking after death and mucking up consolidating is worth the points more often than not. ST/LWBS also performs better than 2xST into anything with a 5+ Sv or better, which will be most things encountered mid-board.

If you’re asking because you’re assembling new warriors the answer is magnets. For list creation it varies, as mentioned above.

The smart(ass) awnser is magnets.

The other awnser are:
3 units with scything tallons for cheap. Hold objectives.
3 units with scything tallons for cheap and synaptic lure. For giving +1 to hit.
3 warriors with lash whip and deathspitter. A small annoying threat. Lash whips keeps opponent from piling into you. And you get to fight back when you get charged, far-out weights the benefit of two bone swords.
5, 6 and 9 man units if lash whip and deathspitter works as well. They can also do synaptic lure. 6 and 9 man units can take venom cannon or barbed strangers.

At some point it is justefied to take a prime. I do not remember when. Do not take a prime with barbed strangers as the to hit caps at 1+.

If you just want speed bumps consider gaunts and ripper swarms.

I'm excited to try warriors, I think they might have some MSU play. Can they be the backbone? I'm not convinced, but I want to try.

They definitely do have play as a backbone. The Bio bond SL is great. A big unit benefits from being immune to LD, obsec and a native 6+ in Leviathan and can cap two objectives if allowed too. Opponents have to remove them all (almost). The bigger unit also allows the SL to chain across the board better and can be a decent to the last choice (if hiddenon an objective) with the -1/2 ap adapt and damage strat.

But, they hit like wet noodles and fall over when looked at in the open by new books.☹️

I have found that venom cannons can still do work to soften up targets for smites and screams (and the hunters Drive).

I will be trying 5 man squads with 2xST to start. I think 3 man units can be picked up too easy by too many armies. And since it's critical that they live now due to the Synaptic Link, I really dont want to take that risk.

With 5, they will be able to hide when necessary and still stretch out a good distance.

Well, Ive tried running a 6 man (lashwhip/boneswords, 4 deathspitter 2 venom cannon) backed up by a prime. The new synaptic link for warriors is great, prime buffs warriors, warriors buff other stuff (in my last game, they turned my devourergaunts into absolute death machines). Even though this is quite an expensive setup, they make for a solid middleground objective holding unit when given enhanced resistance with reasonable firepower and the ability to fight back even if killed in combat by a charge.

I also ran a broodlord just in case I needed to give them ALL the cover (though he ended up using it mostly on the aforementioned devourergaunts).

I really like this setup even though its an investment. I have tried double scytal warriors but they never seem to do anything. Next game Ill try splitting the warriors up into 2 units (maybe replace the prime with some more?) and go for sheer board coverage.

While I'm still running Kraken rather than Leviathan (for paintjob based reasons) I can thouroughly recommend investing in your warriors (if leviathan, they even get a 6+ ignore damage roll so they are even tankier)

personally, I think units of 6 is gonna be the sweet spot, but we'll see when i've experimented a bit more.

Ps. Dont bother with devourers on them at all. go deathspitter or all cc.

I did use a 3-man with talons one to buff and block deep strikers for my hive guards. Hitting on 2s is money!

Paintjob, schmaintjob. Run them like you want.

I've been playing almost exclusively Levi (except for when I ran 100+ stealers in 8th) for the past 6 years due to paint job, so I get it. I'm just lucky that Levi is the new black.

Yeah my entire army except for one patrols worth of stealers a flyrant a broodlord and some gargoyles are New age Kraken although mine looks much more human in skin colour. You can excuse the colorations easily by saying the hive minds just trying to mess with their preys perception of which fleet they are combating.

Mine look closest to Gorgon. I've never ran them as Gorgon even once. Run what you like. Not a single person will complain.

I've also fortunately been running mostly Levi for a long time now because I don't want to mix fleets and Levi is one of the better all around fleets.

That's my favorite thing about this update. I dont feel like I'm shooting myself in the foot by running a mono fleet anymore.
