How should I use a Toxicrene

Long story… suffice to say that my sister in law has insisted that I build a toxicrene for my army.

I’m new at this so… what’s the best way to actually use this toxicrene that I now have?

Spend alot of time painting him up really good and make sure he is visually threatening. This will ensure that your opponent notices him.

Now when you go to deploy him, deploy him... sort of aggressively... you want him as forward as possible but mostly out of sight, that way they have to move up to shoot him.

Now this is where the pay off comes when the enemy either wastes some of thier alpha on killing a destraction monster or you get to sling him into a non-melee centric unit. He will likely die before accomplishing much but I have found that its size and appearance attracts alot of attention and makes him an excelent bullet-magnet. If you can sling him into easy targets so that he can get a few kills before they kill him it will add to the myth.

Note: the new ruled in octarious might make him far stronger then before but durability is not our strong suit, damage can be on occasion though.

Toxicrene is a decent damage dealer - he chips primarily and chips consistently. Will definitely finish off from partial shooting.

He's got a strategem from Blood of Baal (and now in Octarius Rising Tide, copied over) to stop things from falling back in combat- this both protects him and frustrates the enemy if you tag a shooting unit. Using this will be key to maximising his potential, especially vs armies with a fall back and shoot tool.

And finally, in Octarius Rising, Leviathan gets a new strategem to explode a monster on death. The Toxicrene has a flat 3 MW on death - meaning, forcing it to die on the spot causes a fair bit of damage and can hurt a LOT of units within range.

Put it all together, it makes the Toxicrene a very good disruptor and attention sponge, if you can get it into combat with some stuff.

The con, is that he moves slow - so to get him where he can be effective, he needs to be slung by Swarmlord, which means he's taking up a precious tech piece.

Your alternative is to bring 3 of him, which does ok and it ensures at least 1 of them gets to do work and draws attention from elsewhere to continue doing work.
