Best S.Link ability for low points

I have been reading all the latest posts and I have concluded that for now Tyranid Prime (woohoo), BL and Warriors have been the main use of the new Synaptic Link abilities.

That makes total sense to me because outside the Tervigon and Maleceptor abilities, which are okay to good but the models are hard to be incorporated into armies, the others seem lackluster.

I mostly play <2000pts battles, so 500 and 1000pts and I was wondering what were your thoughts on the best one or two Synaptic Link abilities and how they could be used with units that fit that size of armies.

I always liked warriors and devgants as a basis for those armies and I think that the leviathan fleet (which go well with hordes) plus the +1 to hit is perfect. Second to add would probably be a Prime except if I am playing genestealers and I can gain more from the BL.

What would you play with the new rules? Suggest some skewed combos for that size if any come to mind.

That's an entirely different game. Completely changes what is viable.

At it's core, the +1 to hit synaptic link is the most flexible and cheapest. If you're playing a 500 pt game and can only gain access to 1 link, that's the one I'd choose. At 2 links, just take 2 warrior units.

I'd say it also depends on what sort of army you're trying to build: warrior link goes with (basically) anything, prime/BL only go with specific armies/units. But also, do you need a backline HQ? Do you need a troop to sit on an objective/action? I think those are just as important as 'which is the better link'.

Fun idea that might actually be decent at 1k is for a flyrant with size, -1 to wound relic, adaptive biology, and gestalt for hydra. Overcommitment, but at 1k it'll almost certainly live to probably not do enough to make up the investment in stuff.

I'd say just the same as 2k, some combination of devilgants/stealers/Swarmlord/hive guard really. Hive guard are a bit more awkward though at 1k, since limited unit count means you'll generally want units that can do multiple things. Hive guard are just 'sit there and shoot', and are just OK at that without more points in support. Still, hive guard+warrior unit, Swarmlord and a stealer blob or two seems like a pretty solid list.

If Crushing claws werent so expensive on an already expensive defensive unit id say the maleceptor link on a tyrant guard squad would be pretty boss.
