Unit points (newbie question)

I’ve had a ton of fun constructing and painting my models, but it’s fast approaching time to actually field an army to play.

I’ve been working off the 8th edition codex for points, but I’m getting the impression that there may have been point reductions or other things I need to know and/or consult before I know what my actual unit points are.

What other documents should I find and use to make sure I’m getting my points right and fielding a legal and fair army?

If you're looking for the GW points document, get chapter approved 2021. If you're needing them now, use battle scribe.

Battle scribe is largely accurate and is only currently not including the newest supplaments rules (octarious book and this will likly be updated relatively soon).

Things you will need to find else where are stratagems.

Battlescribe's updated with new nid rules: not sure if it's all accurate/there etc, but the update's out.

In battlescribe the additional WLT stratagem works to give your warlord another trait rather than picking a second character.
Not sure if that's correct as i haven't seen the actual pages but it seems counter to the wording on the community article (but that's not saying much).

That is correct. Our additional WLT stratagem only allows you to put an additional WLT on the warlord (giving him 2 traits... or 1 if you chose to take an adaptive physiology instead).

I see that now looking at a post you made in the octarius thread. You could make a pretty resilient tyrant with that. -1 to wound relic, adaptive biology and the hydra WLT. Probably not worth it since it won't be all that killy
