So I am going to be entering into a doubles tournament with my brother. He has a pretty extensive Blood Angels firstborn army. So I am hoping to spitball some ideas around here and hope to get some input or suggestions on how to make some of these things work.
Tyranid Roster
Swarmlord
2 x Walkrant
1 x Flyrant
1 x Brood Lord
3 x Ripper Swarms
2 x Trygon/Mawloc
3 x Toxicrenes
1 x Exocrine
Blood Angels
1 x Storm Raven Gunship - Which he is a little excited to have a reason to paint.
Pretty much any amount of firstborn.
So he wants to use the Storm Raven if possible so I kind of took a stab at how I might be able to support it. Problem I see with the storm raven is that well it can't really, is big, expensive and probably needs to transport something to be worth it. But even with a flying transport it's not like it sets up a T1 alpha. Sooo I figured use it as a sort of distraction carnifex. Put in some tacticals with a powerfist and a multi-melta so if they get shot off they can pressure midboard and if they can fly in on turn 2 they can threaten some larger units. Encephalic diffusion from a maleceptor could protect my monsters and the storm raven.
We will split the CP so each of us starts with 6 then we decide which player gets a CP at the start of the command phase so a list that can operate effectively with fewer CPs is probably a good idea.
Nids
Flyrant - Monstrous Rending Claws, Wings, Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs - T1 Charge
Swarmlord - T1 Monster charge
2 x 3 Ripper Swarms
1 x Maleceptor
2 x Toxicrene - Will both get dermic symbiosis
Blood Angels
Librarian Dreadnought - Can catch a ride in the plane or fly up for a T1 Charge
Sanguinary Priest - Jump Pack - Assault doctrine on death company
9 x Death Company - 4 x Thunder Hammers - T1 Charge up the board
1 x Storm Raven Gunship - Assault Cannons, Twin Multi-Melta, 2 Hurricane Bolters
5 x Tactical Marines - Power Fist, Multi-Melta - Rides in the bird
So there should be very heavy pressure T1 with a second wave T2. Not much obsec and a lot of monsters/vehicles/psychers. My monsters all have a 4++ or 5++ save so hopefully will be able to survive some impact. If we go first we should have a punchers chance. If we go second encephalic diffusion makes us a bit tougher to kill. Death Company hide in deployment and do their free move out if we go first to get that first turn charge. Otherwise they probably hop back into reserves.
Not sure that the Blood angels HQs are the best choice. Librarian Dreadnought is cool because it could get a first turn charge off and would present a similar profile to all the other monsters and is protected T1 with character protections. Sanguinary priest is a bit more questionable in my mind.
Anyways I am a lot less confident in figuring out what is even good on the blood angels side of things. I'd be very curious to see what suggestions or other combos would be good. Pretty flexible on the plan it doesn't need to be a turn 1 pressure list we could aim to line up charges for turn 2 and be a bit more shooty. But I am not sure how to get say some assault terminators or vanvets reliably charging out of deepstrike.
