So I have been mulling this army concept over in my mind. I have been running nidzilla for a bit where it is monsters, support characters and a handful of ripper swarms. It doesn't really do secondaries amazingly well. So I am looking to modify the list so that my secondary play is stronger while still having as much as I can be monsters. I am not a fan of stealers and warriors seemed to fit into my current custom hive fleet as they are multi-wound models so any multi-wound damage output put their way is less against my monsters, they have synapse so will get good mileage out of the re-roll and could provide a re-roll for monsters, can perform actions and can be configured to be a back field objective holder/action taker or tooled out to be aggressive and capable of providing close range fire and melee support. So look cool function well and will be a good troop base if I expand the army out further.
Custom Hive Fleet
Synapse Re-roll
Monsters get +1 to hit on charge/charged or heroic intervention
Flyrant - Monstrous rending claws, heavy venom cannon, adrenal glands, wings
Walkrant - Monstrous rending claws, heavy venom cannon, adrenal glands
Swarmlord - Warlord
2 x 3 Tyranid Warriors - 2 Deathspitters, 1 Venom Cannon, 3 x Bone Swords
3 x 3 Tyranid Warriors - 1 Venom Cannon, Scything Talons
2 x Lictor
Exocrine
3 x Toxicrene
2 x Trygon - Adrenal Gland
So this is theory crafting with the warriors but I would put the toxicrenes aggressively at the front. The bonesword warriors and trygons would be also forward deployed. Everything else is a little bit more conservative and protected or on objectives. If someone runs in and engages the toxicrenes the always strike first and acid blood will at least do something. The trygons and toxicrenes being aggressively deployed means they can get a turn 1 charge especially if I go second.
The venom cannons are the main draw from the warriors. On average they will get 2 shots each hitting on 4's means they on average have one miss. With the synapse re-roll that means they will have essentially 3 shots each. So 15 shots 7 hits, 4-5 wounds vs vehicles and 2-3 make it past a 3+ save for an average of 4-6 damage. It is not great in terms of damage output efficiency for 354 points but it is durable at 45 wounds and has some chaff clearing capability against horde armies in melee and with the deathspitters. Secondaries though raise the banners, deploy scramblers and engage on all fronts seem like secondaries I could take in almost any matchup.
Pretty much my nidzilla list had 3 ripper swarms a broodlord and a tyrannofex. I traded those for 5 warrior squads and a lictor. I still give up a whopping 18 potential points for Bring it Down. But it is a little less guaranteed at least.
What do you guys think?
