Dima modelling issues

Good day all!

I am looking to the greater hive mind to help me with a modelling conundrum.
I have recently bought a dimachearon, all painted, all assembled.. apart from its silly tallons. The arm joint and body socket are completely irregular to one another. Additionally, the arm is just so heavy meaning that the minimal contact point between joint and socket can’t hold the weight.

Does anyone have any experience with the model and how to get around it ?

I was thinking maybe filling the socket with green stuff and then leaving an imprint from the arm in it, let it dry and then super glue. Could be a terrible idea - let me know!

i had no such a problem with mine, one thing that happened to me in another model is that primer is really bad for glueing stuff, is there primer on the glue surface area?

Both my dimas had that arm issue. Like the arm ball was significantly smaller than the socket, giving it very little contact point... I used a gel super glue which helped to fill in the gaps when it got squished in and found an angle where the arm rested in the joint and a rib so I had a spot to hold it in the same position til it set

Exactly my problem, I will have to have a look for a super glue gel. Can you paint over the gel bohxim?

What i did was i pinned it to add support and then to fill the gap i used super glue+ a superglue accelerator spray and the glue looks like part of the body once painted over. A little trick i learned from a fellow hobbyist at my flgs! Its also a good trick to use to fill in gaps most FW models come with when sticking parts together made of resin instead of using greenstuff.

The traditional solution would be to pin his arms. If you have a pin vice and some bits this is the best way to go.

If you’re looking for another option try filling the arm sockets with baking soda. Baking soda is both a gap filler and accelerant for super glue. Depending on how thin your glue is you can to a test fit with the arm to get a perfect imprint and glue the baking soda first, or if it’s thin enough you can apply the glue while holding the arm in place so that the joint can wick the glue into it.

I sprayed it and contrast over after, so it's not really visible. It just looks like a little gap between the joints. Like a pretty natural arm pit. But the glue hardens like normal super glue do u can paint over it if as usual

Working with resin models, you need to get used to pinning large parts like those arms.

Not sure why I didn't have issues on my dima - it all fit rather well although I had to hold the super glue for a really long time...

Gal super glue on both surfaces and a little ball of green stuff got all the wonky joints and fiddly connection on the model together for me.

I've had issues where the joints will detatch after the super glue and greenstuff harden up. If that happens, just add more super glue and reattach.

You should see the one I "fixed" looks like the dima that takes the short bus hahhahahaa

Drill and pin large pieces. Thick super glue + greenstuff is a great gap filler.

Also learn to love 5 minute 2 part epoxy for resin models, especially anything load bearing.

Get a good selection of C-clamps as well.
