Mawloc/Trigon entering from tunnels

Hi,

I have seen that there was a faq saying that these models can't come in turn 1. But I've looked at all the recent faq and can't find this.
Can someone help me find it so I can read it through properly.

That's old (FAQ was for last edition): it's in the core rules for all the missions packs except open, under the reserves section.

Hmmm, sorry to sound dumb but reading the core rulebook Strategic Reserves it states that if any units have their own rules to deploy then the Strategic Rules don't apply.

Yes you are missing something. You are 100% right. And then you read the rules for the missions. So far every mission (I can not speak for crusade) outside of cassual play have a rule regarding reserves. Point 10. Decleare reserves and transports, last paragraf.

Have any of you tried running a mawloc with murderous size and -1 ap scy tals to make them ap-2 2 damage. Could be a fun casual game surprise for 125 points with mortal wounds on top of everything else

I was thinking you could double move strat a maleceptor up to him for another mw bomb then swarm lord move a heirodule then they have 3 big monsters right in there lines turn 2 mixed with -1 strength the mawloc would be ignored I may give it a try

Just feels a little wasted,esp when you can instead dig in again and mortal wound bomb on turn 4 or 5. This seems more reliable and lets you put the physiology on something else

Can mawlocs pop up turn 1? Their description says any move phase

All 'deep striking' units say any move phase. The thing that restricts them from arriving on turn one is the missions.

I played a game with Dermic Symbiosis. The 5++ actually really helped and Kelly him on the higher row of his table when he did get to fight. It at least helped him make his points back, with the back line distraction alongside the kills he definitely was worth playing
