1000 point list C&C

Hello Hive mind, 


I took this to a 1000 point tournie earlier this month and went 2-2. I really wanted to play with the hierodule as it has been sitting on my shelf for far to long, but keen to hear peoples thoughts on improvement. Some context/specific questions to follow the list:
Kronos Fleet.

Neurothrope with Resonance Barb

Swarmlord

Tyranid Prime


Scythed Dule with Dermic Symbiosis

9 Tyranid Warriors with Enhanced Resistance, scy tals and deathspitters, 3 venom cannons


10 Gants

Ripper Swarms

On the table, I wrecked a fluffy all dread BA list, and lost relatively narrowly against Orks after the dule on top bracket couldn't take one wound off Ghaz and we misplayed the Ork strat which lets you bring a mob back. I then won comfortably against Death Guard (models left on the table at game end being a wounded swarmlord and one gant, but I'd played the objectives throughout), and then got kerb stomped by an all knight/armiger list, learning at lot in the process (first time playing against knights), including the importance of focus fire, the reach in rule for ruins and how nasty a knight death grip attack can be.

Swarmy and the dule as the in your face cc threats. Also wanted to try to get some play out of the prime - essentially the warriors were my fire base, with the +1 from the prime, Kronos spell and Single Minded Annihilation providing a not inconsequential fire base. That said, they did nothing (albeit weren't needed) in the first game as I positioned them poorly and were brutally chopped up in 3 of the four games. They did work against the orks and Death guard in particular though. 

I found secondary objectives really hard to choose with the list - it lacks board control/lictors which usually open up my go to Engage on All Fronts and Scramblers (though I took the former a couple of times), but for the rest I found it difficult to settle/achieve anything consistently. Bringing in a lictor would solve some of this, but I honestly wouldn't know what to drop.

Would love to hear suggestions on other things to consider?

That was essentially what I found as well (though I thought that'd be the case going in, I wanted to be lazy ). My thoughts is that you essentially want as much of your list as possible to interact with the objectives, because you have limited ability to take dedicated scoring or kill units.

Swarmy and 'dule are fine kill units, since they're aggressive and will generally need to be dealt with. Warriors are good, though would recommend boneswords to give them some midfield punch.

What I don't like are the prime (well, more accurately prime and neuro, but also just the prime ), and Kronos. You don't want to be stationary, so it's just for symbio, but at that point it's almost 200 pts for that shooting buff, severely cutting into your ability to play the objective.

Not sure exactly how to do it: you could just cut the prime for 2 lictors and have scramblers+engage fairly locked in. But I think that leaves you a bit lacking on primary. I liked having a big blob of gaunts with Swarmy, but didn't help on secondaries. I think you could go with another min warrior squad and a lictor? Should still let you get scramblers with a bit of effort, engage is still reasonable, and gives you another unit for primary that won't die to a stiff breeze. Drop the VC for deathspitters as needed.

And then go probably Leviathan for hive fleet, but I think you could make a case for Kraken (or maybe even some custom fleet).
