Adaptive Physiology

If you take a spearhead with old one eye as warlord, can you take an adaptive ohysiology? If you can and you put it on a unit of carnifex, do all 3 in the unit get it or just 1 of the 3 fexs?

Monster adaptive physiology are for a model, so you'd have to pick a specific Carnifex to get it. For the OOE question, that is a good one. I'd wager you can choose not to have his trait active, its just if he takes a trait it must be his specific one. But I don't have the wording in front of me to confirm.

Old One Eye can not himself have an adaptive physiology. You can however forfeit his warlord trait to give another monster and adaptive physiology.

www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/w3HEKv1SlqfBLU3W.pdf < says 'Named characters cannot be given an Adaptive Physiology.' but it doesn't say they can't be warlord and forfeit their warlord trait as normal to give another monster a physiology.

It is kinda sad that I almost hope our warlord traits continue to be undwhelming if APs continue to work as they do now when we get a new codex.

I'm thinking we'll get an "adaptive physiology for points" mechanic similar to the "upgrade x character" mechanic marines + necrons (?) got.

I think they should get wrapped up together since AP are basically warlord traits for units any way. Norn crown and the synapse one, mind eater and adrenal web, adaptive and dermic symbiosis. I could see many of them being combined as one. I'd rather keep Adaptive Physiologys over warlord traits though if I had to choose.

Yeah, that would be pretty cool. And maybe give us a stratagem that allows more than one. Like 1 CP for an additional one and 3 CP for 2 additional APs.

Have the leader HQs provide something special that can only be applied to the units they buff.
Like OOE would have a unique AP that applies to a whole unit of C-Fexen instead of just an individual.
Terv could provide something that allows a unit of termagants to shoot twice if they stay still and didn't arrive this turn.
Prime could have one that confers a defensive buff to a unit of warriors.

I second the notion that we should get options for taking more adaptive physiologies (either through points or cp's). I also wish they could be taken on whole broods instead single models.

I mean why ork kustom jobs can be taken multiple times and apply to whole units and ours dont is beyond me (not that i begrudge them that). /salt

Necrons got them ONLY on Crypteks, and while some of them are pretty ace, some are real duds. But what's important is that the options to customize and build around are there, and it's a lore-matching way of creating power for the army.

Off the top of my head, a few really good ones are:

1. +1A for Canoptek (d3 if vehicle/monster)
2. halve movement, advance, and charge for enemies (although the range to use is really short - 18" is pushing the limit against anything not a footsoldier with 6" base)
3. COVER for a CORE/CANOPTEK unit when shot at 12" away
4. OLD CHARACTER PROTECTION for a buffing unit 
5. ONCE PER GAME Rites of Reanimation for Triach/Destroyer/Canoptek (would have been ace if every turn instead of once per game, but it's generally too exp unless you run Destroyers + Warriors, because the guy is too expensive for a once a game buff)
6. Orbital Bombardment to keep pesky BGVs off the middle objective (more trolly than anything though IMO, it's pts instead of 3cp which is a deffo upgrade)

And a bunch of specific playstyle ones such as DS on a Cryptek, nulls the first damage, LD effects or Mortal Wounds, etc. Not all are great, but they're interesting. 

Assuming that all xenos gets something similar but not the same (ie different lore-tied ways to bring effects to the table via some form of leader), it makes sense ours would be tied to Synapse units that give buffs to others in range. Or at least, that's what I'd hope for. The 8th ed codex came out pretty decent for design for a first run codex, so I have some faith the guys handling it do think about it and are trying to make it as lore comparable as possible (before balance changes messses it up).  As long as there arent any stupid and senseless distinctions for racism against Nids, and weird FAQs that completely invalidate strategems, I think it might come out exciting.
