First attempt at 9th edition 1000 Batalion Detachment.

I would like to ask You for advice regarding my first attempt at the 9th edition and all of its aspects. My collection is hugely outdated(I have 3 3rd edition Carnifexes that are very small in comparison to modern day models and don't look like a T7 monster , so my resources are limited, But hey nobody said this will be easy

If read though the forum and talked with some people in my area about how 9th edition works and by looking through various lists I came up with the above one. I was tempted to equip warriors with Venom cannons and Deathspitters but this would cost me either a Zoan or a Hive guard, and I know I will be up against a 2x5 or 1x10 Terminator squad so I would like as much Psychic as possible. The warrior Loadout if purely WYSWIG (I had to detach some wings from my old winged warriors and dismantled an old kit bashed lictor, equip them with new Tyrant Guard EQ and There we go, a Melee unit The Lictor is for secondary mission purposes, a lot of people talk about "scramblers" But I do not see this mission in the rulebook. Do I need some other rules?

Any suggestions and criticism is welcome!

The list does feel a bit scrambled, but I'd say it's generally strong points. Termagants and Hormagaunts will definitely be background, but if they get a point or divert enough attention it's a win. Warriors, however, I'm not sold on. This is a dedicated melee build for them, at which they're simply not too good. Output would be nice if they were tougher for their points. I'd either get them shooting too or go full talons, maybe still with Venom Cannons. Hand in claw with that goes the Prime, 6 Warriors is too few for a Prime to make its points.

Zoanthropes are sure to earn wrath of elite army players, but I feel taking two extra Neurothropes instead would turn out better now. Not that much more fragile than a Zoanthrope unit, but with generally better output - which Zoanthropes lack against everyone but the most elite. I would probably use some of my old, metal Zoanthropes as Neurothropes and call it a day, but your area might not be that lax, in which case staying with Zoanthropes should be good enough. Try to keep the 4th in the unit alive and blasting as long as possible.

Hive Guard and Exocrine do good shooting (I'd expect you use up most, if not all your CP on Single-Minded Annihilation) and Lictor is a very good backfield agent, Deploy Scramblers is a great example (remember its charge bonuses, 9" movement and Metabolic Overdrive when necessary). Deploy Scramblers secondary is not in the core book, it was added in the Grand Tournament 2020 mission pack, a Chapter Approved book released together with the rulebook. Adds some 1000p and 2000p missions, a couple secondaries and changes a few others compared to the core book, it's often used for missions in events. It also updated the point values, which makes a big part of why it's so common, but those points are currently outdated and up-to-date ones are currently available for free.

  The warriors were my biggest concern, And If I would equip them with ranged weapons, I'd had to drop either a HG or a Zoans, and a unit of 5 Warrios with only 1 Heavy weapon won't cut it (imho).
The prime is here as the rule of Cool, and boosting the BS by 17% is a nice thing non the less.  I know that the Broodlord would be better, but agin no points to spare. 
   We are a group of newbies and people who retired a decade ago so we are all starting all over again You might say so right now the power output of the army is not as vital as in a tourney

If you have the option, I'd probably thin the Warriors down to just Scything Talons, using the freed up 15p to replace the Prime with a second Neurothrope. I'd also probably take 5 Warriors with a cannon over 6 without. As a "bonus" they don't suffer the worse coherency then. If taking away HG or Zoans I'd remove 1 HG before 1 Zoan because of the Zoan bonus of being 4+, meanwhile HG scale linearly.
Also you could remove 2 LWBS Warriors to get points for a Prime -> Broodlord.

  Thank You for the advice! I've thought about it, look at the codex and the Venom cannon has some decent stats (I thought that It was Str 7 not 8!). So after a quick run though my list I've removed the devouers from the termagaunt unit, the adrenal gland from the Prime and change the 6 man meele unit of Warriors into a 5 man (bug) unit of Warriors with 4x Deathspitter and 1 Venom cannon. Could change the Hormagaunts for Ripper swarms, to add one more warrior but I think the hormagaunts are more useful when it comes to secondary objectives so I will leave them for now.

Now, I wanted to run my list either as Leviathan or as Jorm. But now I'm starting to think that Kronos would be fun, but then again I don't have plance fom a symbiostorm caster.

Run it as Kronos, symbio on the neuro, cat on the zoans, though Leviathan is also reasonable with warriors/zoans for tanky midfield.

 After a few games with my friends, that we all either are returning to 40k or just starting, I must say that my above mentioned list did quite well. I lost only to a IG player and I blame only me fo that loss, because I made a tacical error
 But one thing bothered me when I played a newbie DA player. Well he is a newbie in terms of the game, but as for the lore... it's quite the opposite:) But non the less, I won the game, becasue by colleague concealed at the end of turn 2, because he did not made any chages. One of the units was a Deathwing knight suqad and the other was z regular Deathwing terminator squad. After the game I noticed that If any of the charge reached my units, I would have no counter attack to deal with them... So I thoight that I should at least try to add some counter punches... And here is my New Idea:

 In short, I replaced a Tyranid Prime and 5 Warriors with 4xDS and 1 VC for a Broodlord and 4 LW+BS Warriors. And I've transferred the Barb from the Neuro onto the Broodlord to maximize the psychic potential. The RR 1 from the Neuro should be enough for a Symbiostorm cast, and with a Broodlord I do not lose the extra cast from the relic. Which lead to my second question. In the former list I had Symbio on the Neuro and 4 Zoans had Catalyst. Now that I have a third caster, I was thinking of putting Catalyst on the Broodlord, and Scream on the Zoans. Is this OK, or should I leave Catalyst on the Zoans and put the Scream on the BL for a double MW deler?
