Is 1+ wounding actually a thing in 9th?

I know they changed the wording for stormshields so that 1+ saves werent a thing anymore, but whats stopping a behemoth str 8 attacker from wounding on 1+ against t4 or less with unstoppable hunger?

I'm looking through all the faqs for anything stating that you cant wound people on a 1+, but it just says the same thing armor saves did (UNmodified rolls of 1 fail) but a 2+ with 1+ to wound is 1+ modified.

Am I just looking to much into it? or is there a piece im missing here.

Citation? a 1 rolled with +1 is still a modified 1 according to the rules, since they changed an entire plethora of items to make sure it didnt say that, im not so sure its "end of story"

A 1 with +1 is a modified 2.

An unmodified wound roll of 6 always
successfully wounds the target, and an unmodified wound roll of 1 always
fails.

You roll a 1. It is an unomdified 1. It always fails. Do not go further, do not care that it it can be modified to a 2. It is an unmodified 1.

I see you dont understand how a +1 to a wound roll would make a 1 into a modified 1 if your is thinking +1 to wound rolls would turn a 2+ into a 3+ to wound...

Um, that's exacty how it works purestrain. I've done a lot of theoretical mathematics in my day, but I am unable to think of a way to add something to 1 and still come up with the number 1. You have done something that is truly unique.


Let's approach this another way. Purestrain, what is an unmodified result?

a +1 to wound means you add 1 to the result of your wound rolls. a 1 counts as a 2, a 2 counts as a 3e ect.
But the rules don't care that your 1 gets turned into a 2 and would successfully wound, its an unmodified 1 and therefor automatically fails.

purestrain rolled a D20 for his intelligence check. It's a 1, despite having +3 to his score, a roll of 1 is always a failure.

In other words, a condition for "unmodified x" always takes the result before modifiers. So if unmodified 6s generates extra attacks, then every natural rl of 6 is another attack. If unmodified 1s always fail, then natural 1s will fail before it gets to the modifier stage.

Works the same for saves, which is why we have no 1+ save.

Also why Transhuman and similar abilities are nearly broken good.

An unmodified result is whats shown on the die face for our purposes. We can argue semantics, wax philosophical and unfortunately insult each other but when GW talks about unmodified die results it means the number of pips on the upward facing side on the litle cube of fate.

The reason we don't have 1+ saves is different: while an unmod 1 always fails, a 2 will always pass if you have an actual 1+ sv. (Roll is min 1, which is modified 1 and equal to sv thus passes).

Just gonna say though, you did misunderstand how the +1 to wound dice roll mechanic works and accused the others here of not understanding how it works - the attitude has been going both ways. Might wanna just accept it doesnt work and move on. You've been doing pretty well on being inoffensive prior to this.

it's up to you man. You know how far mudslinging goes to getting things to go your way (not very far), and I aint done no mocking and humiliating for a long time. Just highlighting in case you didnt see it. If it dont mean nothing to you, carry on.
