Adding wings to 2nd edition metal hive tyrant

I want to add the plastic wings from the current tyant kit onto my 2nd edition tyrant(the warrior sized one) what would be the best way to do so?

Do you have wings in mind? If not, I'd recommend gargoyle wings. You could do one or two pairs depending upon the look you want.

If you're looking for how, I'd say liberally apply greenstuff and glue to stick the wings onto the back of the tyrant.

He's planning on using the current hive tyrant wings.

It's not going to be easy. The tyrant weapons are left side/right side unlike the top pair/bottom pair the current edition runs. On top of that the top pair of arms are flush cut with the carapace on the weapon arms and not the body, while the bottom arms use an inverse ball and socket joint. If you plan to mount it in an arm socket like the current tyrant you've got your work cut out for you. Assuming that there is enough room on the body for the wing skin (which I don't believe there is) you'll have to find parts that flat out don't exist or fabricate weapons out of I don't know what.

With the arms being out of the question the other place to mount them is on the back. As is there isn't enough room on the carapace, but if you were to cut off the bony bits and make him a smooth back you'd have enough room for the wings. That's a lot of metal to cut and file away but it's the only way to create enough surface area to mount something as large at your tyrant wings. You'd probably have to pin the wings to the body as they won't be stable just glued to the back like that.


Though to be honest I wouldn't try and put wings on the second edition tyrant. If I had a choice I'd look around and see if I couldn't find an old 3rd edition hive tyrant. Wings would look much better on him. Heck, even a 3rd edition carnifex would look good with the tyrant wings.
