Phermone + Strategic Reserves?

Was this stratagem designed for 9th? The problem was always units that could be phermoned were better off just deep striking.

Now that we can reserve anything does this pump up Lictor Flex even more?

I see devilgaunts talked about now and what about them? Strategic reserves them and if no lines of fire phermone.

Or is this still just polishing a turd?

Lictor make for great obj grabbers and if ran in multiple, can be used as disruptors as well.

The stratagem is a waste of time, it calls to use units put into reinforcement, but units that can go into reinforcements ALREADY have a deep strike option, typically the same as his.

Couple that with the Faq for "cannot be setup within "x" takes precedence over "can setup within "x" " and there is actually no reason to use it at all.

If you're using the cp for strategic reserves, then it can be a flex play to use pheromone trail. I wouldn't bet on using it often though.

We have a silly faq that states we need to "come out from the same vector" or whatever that basically says strategic reserves must still come out of strategic reserves, unless removed.

Honestly though what would be worth spending cp to put into strat reserves and pheromone trail out?

It's a flex play, IMO. You don't plan for it but you can use it to take advantage of a misplay. Offhand some ideas when it could be good are to pop a bunch of devourer gaunts where they're unexpected (maybe they left a character open?). I could see using it to place warriors on top of an objective as well.

Doesn't matter either way, it uses infantry that are reinforcements. they already have a native deepstrike option if they're in reserves and if they dont you cant beacuse of the FAQ.

Add the following:
‘You cannot use this Stratagem to affect a unit of reinforcements
being set up by the Genestealer’s Infestation ability, or that are
added to your army due to a unit’s ability.’

The faq is more specific then you would think. So you could bring in any of your regular reinforcements with pheromone trail. Not sure if ots worth it but it isnt as bad as it was in 8th (use to be unusable)

The pressing question is again, what's worth using it on? Even as a flex play, I would question what exactly are you putting in strategic reserves that warrants a flex play in the first place. If anything, the best flex play is the endless horde one, bringing it in from table side AFTER its destroyed is one hell of a flex.

I would think anything that you would put in a trygon tunnel or spore drop in. I mean you're taking a lictor anyway, so why not save some points by using the stratagem instead?

devbomb seems like an OK play. You'd outflank with them anyway, but if maybe a lictor could bring those gaunts onto the top of some ruins then it might be worthwhile.

Honestly it is just icing on the cake for our 9th Muscled Mantis. Pretty hard to iron out perfection but worth a dig.

I guess hero status is ok, god tier can be left for things like Mortarion and Silent King..
