First Tyranid army list - need advice

Hi all,



I just started with 40k and chose Tyranids as my first army. I found this forum very helpful with lots of great content.



For my first minis I just ordered the models I liked the most (rule of cool) and now I need to bring these models or at least some of them into an army list I can play my first games with (1.000 points).



These are the models I own so far. Could you (1) please help me creating a beginner friendly army lists and (2) tell me how I should built the Swarmlord, Hive Tyrant and the Tyranid Warriors? There are so much options and I would like to make sure to find a good solution. Do you magnetize them or have you decided on a specific build?



HQ:

1x The Swarmlord

1x Hive Tyrant

1x Old One Eye

1x Broodlord



Troop:

40x Hormagaunt Brood

6x Tyranid Warriors



Heavy Support:

1x Trygon / Mawloc

1x Tervigon / Tyronnafex



Elite:

2x Lictor / Death Dealer

So, those HQs are sound. Same with troops. Hormagaunts, a 30 and a ten is probably most useful.

Build both your lictors as lictors. Deathleaper is about the worst choice possible, with two lictors being arguably the first two units to pick.

Heavy I’d build them as a Mawloc and acid spray Tyrannofex.

Future purchases; 6 hiveguard are nearly compulsory, with an Exocrine or two being a good choice. Other than that you probably will want some more troops of some descript. None are terrible but I’d avoid genestealers currently.

There isnt much though behind it. But usw the gaunts to take primaries dont feel bad if they die thats ther job. Sit on an objective with rhe warriors and keep them alive there. T fex shoild be good at clearing objectives and the lictors should be used for secundaries.

I would just add that the Trygon is, IMO, better than the Mawloc. I think Lictors and Mawlocs fill a similar role and you can't argue with the ease of cost of Lictors vs/ a Mawloc.

Things to know about a Trygon

-Don't run it as Prime
-Put Adrenal Glands on it
-It needs Murderous Size adaptation from Blood of Baal to be the most effective
-It either needs to be run in a Kraken or Behemoth list - Kraken makes it a good target for Hive Commander from the Swarmlord if your opponent screens your deep strike out and Behemoth gives you a native reroll
-You're going to need a CP for Voracious Appetite so you can re-roll all wound rolls
-It is going to die, but not before taking something with it so trade up

I personally have had nothing but disappointment with the trygon. It's cost to survivability ratio is far too poorm

I have not tryed the mawlocks people are reporting. But I can belive it.

I personally use trygon in meme lists, where he pops up with like 30 devourer gants
