Been a long time since i played nids (was my go to from 3rd-6th when i moved to other game systems) and a couple of games in using this list. Looking to optimize possibly and get some feedback.

What’s your gameplan with this list? There are a few odd choices in here, not sure if it’s just due to the models you have, but 7-man genestealer squads are not great. Also, why tyrant guard at 1500?

For hive fleet, jorm may serve you better than custom. Not really sure how much reroll advances helps you.

Last, ditch the ymgarbge factor and save a CP. I didn’t see that you had a warlord trait, so no need to spend the CP for dermic symbiosis either. Just my 2 cents.

So a few things. 9th is a whole different can of worms. The killing has been removed as a Primary focus, which is very different. Terrain matters, there are a lot less feel bad moments (templates/vehicle arcs gone etc) and Secondaries play a big role. Command Points are a fun yet sometimes pigeonholed resource.

Your army looks to be heading towards the Nidzilla approach, with some hangover from edition swap.

What I would do first is drop to 1000 points. You will have more flexibility and focus. Maybe:

Combine both Genestealer squads. They get +1A at 10+ and are actually pretty trivial to remove. Rippers are great as ever. Warriors would benefit from being larger squad or not at all as well. I have 6 and 9 is definitely the magic number. (Partially due to Adaptive Physiologies and stratagems.) You are going to need Gaunts, or more Rippers if you lean into Nidzilla.

The Carnifex are good and ironically the only Nid I have none of (OOE yes) which makes me think you are best choosing either Kronos or Jormungandr. Cover is extremely rare on Monsters/vehicles now, but reroll 1's Exocrines with Symbiostorm and Pathogenic slime are going to scare anything!!

Carnifex to fill.

Use your free Adaptation (our Warlord traits are inherently bad) on Dermic Symbiosis for your Exocrine, and you could have a 2nd for the 1 CP if you choose. Nothing stands out so experiment! Also replace Ymgarl with Resonance Barb from Psychic Awakening.

Focus on the mission. Pick the right secondaries. Have fun and good luck.

Dermic is on the Exocrine and one of the fex's

Re-roll advance is great for the stealers who stay behind cover (a real possibilty in this game) and can reroll the advance to see if its worth risking them poking out of cover to support a fex/guard/tyrant in combat or head towards more cover/objective. They've been great as objective holdersas they're threat in smaller groups with a nearby broodlord (or second unit) makes people make a choice. 

Tyrant guard, I still like their resilience and ability to deliver the big guy where he is needed flanked by fexs

I have played a few games and obviously table tactics and adapting to threat on the table means the flexibilty of the units is helpful

I do prefer smaller units able to split off, but be within touching distance when needed, hence the breaking of the squad size (also makes it easier to hide behind terrain)

I was thinking of using the resonance barb and i already have the Dermic on the Exo and 1 fex

Dermic symbiosis on a carnifex is kind of a waste, as the 5++ is better the more wounds you have, and the second part of the physiology doesn't even come into play as they don't degrade. Either save the CP, or do something like murderous size on your tyrant to give it respectable strength and damage. I still think tyrant guard are unnecessary to protect a foot tyrant, especially at 1500. I like them to protect a harder-to-hide flyrant or the Swarmlord, but you may be better off swapping for more stealers if you have them because you really want that 4th attack. They are already in a precarious spot in 9th because of their cost and damage output, so you really want numbers if you hope to do anything with them.

For me the secondary ability is just a bonus if its being used - its being purchased for the 5++ - but i get where you're coming from
