Hierophant APs

If you are going for Muderous Size please clarify in the comments which weapon you would choose.

My opinion atm is Dermic Symbiosis. Not for the 5++ but for doubling wounds for damage table. To keep her accurate and fast for longer.

I'd pick Digestion because it penalises your opponent for throwing chaff units at the Hierophant, while also helping with the damage table.

Why woyld your opponent throw chaff units at a hierophant it it can still move and shoot out of CC though? If it were me id just stay away so you cant regen and not hurt me in CC w/pods and talons too right?

It doesn't need one, if it's the only thing that does, then accelerated digestion would be a good one, as even without dermic you have to dump a painful amount of firepower into it to bracket it. By the time that happens you will have devastated their back line guns with yours. Its a total brute and bully in melee and a superb pressure unit, even at its size.

It basically comes down to what you need him to do.

Survive against an AT meta the likes of which I've never seen? Def dermic.

Need to get into the fight and stop their knight from rampaging through your screens? Digestion or murderous size.

Have no synapse (or barely any) and require a substantial area to be covered? Give him synapse.

AP was really built around the existing problems that tyranids have in the game through either fault of rule or just bad core mechanics, they don't exist on the newest incarnations of forgeworld units.

TLDR: Doesnt need one but use your meta as the measuring stick if he does.

To stop it from going somewhere specific. A titan full of obsec warriors or 'stealers is something an opponent won't want marched into their own deployment zone. While it can FLY, the Hierophant can't end its move on top of another unit so all it takes are a couple of well-placed expendable units ~5" away to slow it down.

If the phant has moved at all its too late to stop its contents, if stealers, from reaching their target. Move advance after getting transported 12" forward puts them in pretty good threat range for whatever they're after.

You can't bog this guy down, hes got too much movement and his weapons work very effectively for what they are.

My plan was to always make it kraken. It wont roll 3d6 as its auxil super heavy but it can still use opportunistic adavnce right? Tyen cast onslaught w/resonance barb neuro

Units with fly can not use opportunistic advance.

Perhaps since nowadays the fly keyword no longer is only about fliers Op Adv will be changed to include hierophant. Or maybe not from a balance perspective.

The Hierophant is the only Tyranid unit that has fly and doesn't have wings or hovers. Also, the codex will probably have completely new hive fleet stratagems. So I doubt they'll do anything of the sort.

I would put murderous size on the lash whip pods. My meta is a lot of marines, so that extra ap and damage let's it fire off at heavy targets and kill heavy hitters alongside objective holding intercessors alike. It also doubles up on death guard fnp rolls. Even helps vs custodes, though not to the same extent.
