Do you wait for green stuff to dry vefore adding magnets?

Im using a arm to keep thing polarized and when i did a torso with greenstuff it was a bit of a mess. I glued the green stuff in place and than put on super glue and pushed the magnet in, and the magnet was trying to come up with the stack i used to keep it polarized.

I don’t think I’ve ever had to glue green stuff to a model. I’ve always used it as a bonding agent or gap filler.

Using superglue and magnets together is dangerous stuff. Especially if you are trying to use glue and two magnets are together. The worst possible thing you can do is glue two magnets together in the socket.

I usually only work with one magnet at a time. I’ll paint each side a different color to keep track of polarity if I need to. Though I try and use sheet metal on one side of the joint wherever possible. Makes things much easier if you don’t need the extra strength in the joint.

Yeah, you definitely don't want to be using magnet stacks and super glue. You need to do it one at a time, wait for the glue to dry and the green stuff to harden: then it should be a strong bond. If you try to test the polarity too early, either the green stuff's going to pull away from the plastic, or the glue will break and the magnet will pull away from the green stuff.

ok ill try without the stack in the future, ive tried once and flipped the magnet and lost the right side, maybe that paint/marking can help. As for the super glue, no magnets got stuck together i did get some glue on them but kept prying them apart and cleaning them until they where ok and theyre fine. thanks a ton for the tips. was giving my self a hard time and i had watched a few youtube videos where the greenstuff was still workable. also i didnt know green stuff didnt need glue.

yeah guys, i *always* use greenstuff + superglue with magnets. always. it works great. just be deliberate with how you proceed and pay attention to what you're doing.

The only time greenstuff and superglue has failed me is with my Toxicrene, and I suspect that's due to angle issues more than grip issues.

ya in that case ill stick to super glue with greenstuff, a little extra strength doesnt hurt and i dont have to worry about pulling out a magnet

I usually like to drill a small hole for it to rest in. Then I have a junk arm and body standard. So a spare scything talon for my arm and a spare flat disc for the body standard. When I want to magnetize the body I drop a magnet onto the scything talons magnet. I press that into the hole with green stuff and then instead of pulling straight out I rotate the arm. Magnet stays in place since it is in the hole and then when I reduce the magnetic force enough I pull away with the arm. It is always the correct polarity across my whole army and easy to install.

The other trick I have is using some scrap plasticard, really anything which doesn't interact with the magnets between the tool or magnet stack I am using to for application and the magnet I want to install. When the magnet is freshly in hold the plasticard firm and pull back the tool or magnet stack. Plasticard holds the magnet in place while the tool or other magnets get pulled away. Then pull plasticard back quickly if using super glue and you are done. Or just plan on leaving the plasticard if it is a flat surface and you care about chipping.
