Can Rippers, lictors and raveners burrow and deploy turn 1

from my understanding, reserves can come in turn 2, but it sounds like these units abilities are seperate from reserves, so they can all be used for secondaries turn one, instead of turn 2

No, none of these units can be put in reserves and brought in turn 1.

They have abilities that let you reserve them with no CP cost. There is nothing in their rules that lets you come in T1.

ok thank you, so for the deploy scrambler lictor, thats a turn 2 play. how are gargoyles for turn 1 obj unit as they have fly and can start gathering secondary objs turn 1, but double the cost and bigger board present might make them a juicier target.

Gargoyles are great at scoring turn 1 objectives as you can reach the center of the table without double moving to drop banners or deploy scramblers if they’ll fit in the required zone. Also good for domination for being able to reach the center. Their biggest problem is lack of obsec, but they have their uses.

There is a Caveat in Crusade that allows Strategic Reserves to come in T1, and some missions can modify that rule if stated within its parameters.

Basic rules say no coming in T1.

If it doesnt have a rule on its datasheet that says it can come in T1, it cant come in T1.

Unless you have a rule allowing it from the mission (as pointed out last post by purestrain), a stratagem, or what have you, nothing's coming in.

It isnt a core rule, it depends on the mission pack. GT2020 (and eternal war in the book) both spell out during their steps that nothing in reserves can come in till turn 2. Drop pods are to my knowledge the only exception,given specifically by their bespoke rules.

OK, so in crusade and Open Play you can deepstrike Turn 1 in the enemy Zone.

In Open Play yes.
In Crusade you can deploy Strategic Reserves in turn 1. Which is just the type of reserves where you pay CPs at the start of the game to let units arrive from a table edge.
Units using any other type of deepstrike ability count as Reinforcements, and they cannot arrive in battle round 1 of Crusade games (page 334).

It's worth pointing out that despite Crusade missions telling you that Strategic Reserves can arrive during battle round 1, the Strategic Reserve rules themselves do not tell you how to do this. They have a table showing where these units can arrive during various battle rounds, which doesn't include round 1. So you sort of have to house rule that regardless.

Any faq will just say ignore t1 rules and use t2+
