Comptetive Bladed Cog list? Troop heavy!

OK.

Here is my atempt at a competetive GSC cult list. 22 drops. 9 start on the table. (Start 12 things on the table and pull the rest into reserves with 'they came from below.)

Starting Alphus, 3 ridgerunner squads, 3 mortar squads, 1 brood brother squad, 1 nexos on the table.

Things I do not like in this list: The elite slot feels a lot like a tax. Locus and Nexos in particular feels bad. 100 points for 'nothing'.

Othervice do deepstrike shenanigans. Shotgun squads to deny objectives and kill troops. With the CP I have they can be combined with lying in wait and a perfect abush. Also, a perfect ambush is very good on the acolyte hybrid group.

I do feel that I could remove the acolyte hand flamer, nexos and locus (150 points) and add 2 groups of 5 hyrbid metamorphs with rending tallon, lash whip and hand flamer (130 points.)

I'd say drop the locus or kelemorph and pick up a sniper sanctus instead.

I'd then recommend dropping the broodbrothers infantry and swapping out for more neophytes. I'd personally run all laser spam instead of the shotguns. Maybe get some more acolytes to be objective clearers.

I tried a slight variant of the list. (Flamer acolites and non kelkermorph elites became 2x5 hand flamer hybrid morphs with lash whip.)

My opponent was an ork with 2 dakkajets. He got first turn and just stood on all objectives en did very well. I had a very hard time shifting him. What little I did do was not enough.

The dakkajets in particular whipped me. I tryed to take them out and failed. 2x 18 shots BS4+ S6 AP-1 is very bad for GSC. Whenever I had someone on an objective 18 to 36 shots would force me off it. In a future list I need less bodies (who I had plenty off) and something to kill long ranged anti infantry weapons!

Mortars died early. Good roadblocks for 50 points though. Perhaps heavy bolsters would be better.

I am wondering if one of the tanks perhaps could help me out?

He should be getting 12 with exploding 6s for 14 shots, 7 of which hits for 14 total for both. Still losing big chunks, but marginally more survivable.

Turning the Neophytes into Seismic or lasers might help deal with long range ant-infantry. Assuming you don't want to bring the Ridgerunners.

How's the metamorphs doing? I can't place them too well mentally.

Yeah, but the planes shoot each turn. GSC are all over the map.

Metamotphs, you loose objective secure. But they have more melee attacks. And he needs to shoot them dead. If he charges them then handflamer oberwatch followed by lash whip melee attacks. Use then a) to unlock a brigade b) to take out very minimal units that sit on objectives.

I've never used metamorphs but they seem interesting. Also, the Sanctus with the "dagger" is something I'd like to try. The Sanctus can do a perfect ambush for free. I play Cult of 4AE mainly and I usually use the perfect ambush Strategem on turn 2, but having the Sanctus come in turn 3 and perfect ambush for free sounds good. Also dropping him on turn 2... giving him a chance to make a charge, and if he fails it just go back in the shadows turn 3 to come back out and perfect ambush for free on turn 4 sounds like it could be do-able. I've never tried it before and keeping him safe from getting blasted off the table without trading well would be tricky too.

But he has a really good dagger relic and the free perfect ambush makes my want to try to fit him in a list.
