In really quick summary, an idea for 3 Acolytes in Trucks, 3 Acolytes underground, 3 BBs underground, and a bunch of ridgerunners, vs some chaos mix thing with Thousand Sons and possibly DG, I have no idea. 

Not sure how serious to take, but learning technique and skill and recovery options is always good.

At the end they both defend gsc as being solidly mid tier (if I remember). What are the armies below them? I don't think they are the absolute worst army anymore but I can't imagine putting half of the other armies below GsC.

Notes: John smashes Nick using an army he has never played, while Nick was a top GSC player in 8th.

GSC never gets off the ground with 0 Primary.

Chaos has almost 0 shooting and GSC still almost tabled.

At no point during the match was GSC in control, and at no point was there an even trade.

Creations of Bile are Biophagus upgrades but on good units.

Another example of how bad fast ++ armies just murder GSC without recourse.

If they place GSC at mid tier after the games I have watched of theirs that means only 1 thing. In the hands of the very best players in the world GSC can "ACT" as mid tier, but with that loss I would give their performance a solid C-.

Maybe they have too many GSC clients to tell it like it is.

It peaked my interest. GW seems to nerf the armies according to the tops, and if they can't break it, it is beyond repair.

I am usually a devil's advocate, but I think I am finally jumping on board.

GSC:

The most restrictions and costs (Magus same price as Librarian, but 10x worse)

The least amount of units that benefit from Creed

Losing rerolls and +1 to charge AND reroll PA killed ambush.

Zero durability

Zero response to ++

Bleeds secondaries basically guaranteeing Bring it down/Assassinate and Grind them Down


For once I have zero idea what to do, as Nick demonstrated how useless melee trucks are and my last game showed how swingy our shooting is again.

I have not seen the whole report but are the reason for failure from weak army or bad rolls with the dice (or perhaps even both).

Because I do see some reports where GSC still wins and I hope that we still can do some damage against opponents and win games even if its harder then other armies.

Nick is critical awterwards towards himself and I did think he played strange sometimes. That list need to work more together. He needs screen more and not let the ridgerunners get tagged in his oen back field. He would do a lot better in a rematch I am sure.

I would have made a similar play strategy as Nick did (forgo the shooting to its own, and try to crowd out/steal objectives with everything I have) - you cannot stop your RRs from getting tagged by FLY single base models or small effective units unless you wrap extremely tightly, and you have limited resources to do that with. If you wrapped it, you wouldnt be able to push them out later (while still scoring). At best I would say the RRs needed to move more and try to get angles better - they stood still for most of that game and looked like they couldnt focus shots where he wanted shots to go.

This list would probably suffer a fair bit to an army that had shooting (there was a single shooting unit in this army), and I think it would have severe issues trying to crowd out Bladeguard Vets who can and probably will tank those Rock Saws.
