Core units, how will it affect us?

With the new CORE unit keyword and the rebranding of unit auras as such, do you think we will see a change to such units as broodlords and Tyranid Primes to just affect core units? They already don't affect themselves and having a blanket aura would truly be helpful.

What do you guys think?

I don't think Nids or GSC will be hurt much by this.

Most of GSC is set to go with built in banners and the Primus just gives +1 to hit.
Nids were pretty much set in not using auras to reroll and the Warriors will just be updated to Core for the Prime who is already set for this.

Our AM side is a bit different.. Tank commanders may lose their own order re-roll.

I dont think they're going to go through and eratta units to have core. They'll just wait for the new books to come out. In which case, there is way too little information to speculate. And if they do go around changing everybody's auras and handing out CORE keyword before then, Tyranids will be largely unaffected. Synapse has to effect everything to work and our other auras are unit specific, like everyone else's shouldve been.

I think the commanders won't be able to buff themselves but their buffs to other tanks will be as it is today. The logic is "why should a commander ordering himself to shoot a unit make him shoot it better?"

The only thing i can think of is he's the commander within a tank, not the gunner of it.(like how pask shoots his own tank)

As stated in the New stuff thread, Old One Eye will likely lose his ability to buff himself, which hurts. And who knows what they will do with Synapse...

Yeah but it probably wont because a BL only buffs stealers, TRT only buffs raveners, etc. We dont have any universal buff units aside from synapse.

And you'd better hope GW doesnt count them.

Dont get me wrong, now would be the time to rework this whole mess into something fun and useful.

But experience suggests the chance of this happening is pretty low.

Idk, stuff like the new Melta heavy bolter and laser destroyer damage rules makes me feel like 9th is a major course correction to what 8th was.

It just sounds like they're adding a new tag that can be applied or not applied as needed. In the case of marines the insane number of things that can get rerolls is greatly reduced now. That's a step in the right direction. We have literally no idea how this will affect nids, especially as nids auras are drastically different than the way marines worked.

If anything, this CORE change seems to be more closely mirroring our very specific bubbles like the Neuro/Zoey, TPrime/Warriors, etc, so I wouldn't be surprised if we had no changes at all to our current auras. Maybe the Hive Tyrant will just get the standard RR aura that most other commander units do and that'll have CORE attached to it.
