Ah, I see the confusion now. Slow rolling means you go through the cycle of hit/wound/save one at a time for each attack rather than rolling hits/wounds all at once and then rolling the saves one at a time.

I think this is a point that may be missed by quite a few people.

In this instance I think you could fast roll the hits since they're not affecting the later rolls, but you'd have to slow roll the wounds.

Yeah. RAW, technically you couldn't fast roll the hits either, but I don't think anyone would want to do that, and fast rolling hits, and then slow roll/some other randomisation for the wounds is a reasonable compromise.

Agreed on the above. No one wants to watch you roll 80 genestealers rending claw hits one at a time.

Note: if you're not dealing with units where the AP or damage difference wouldn't matter (same save across the whole unit, single wound per model), then rolling all together is functionally ok (maybe not 100% legal but it makes the game go faster so why complain?)

I'm thinking it might be worth my time to construct a device that you can pour the dice into and then shake it so that all the die end up in a straight line at the bottom.

I have a design in mind, but would first need to get my 3d Printer calibrated and functional (frustrating) and then second, learn a cad program well enough to put what is in my head into the program and export to an stl.

I think it would help with all these sorts of situations. Just construct two of them and have the attacker roll the dice together for the attack, then roll the wounds in the sorter and that way there would be a prescribed order to take the saves in. Defender could roll all the saves for the non-6's with one color die and 6's with another. It will be slightly awkward taking the first 6 save when it appears in the attacker's tray, but it would be a hell of a lot faster than doing everything one at a time.

I'm thinking kind of like a rectangular funnel shape where the bottom is a bay just wide enough for one die width and long enough for about 30 dice.
