First GT of 9th has been played....

So the first GT of 9th has been played and it looks about how I expected for this edition. Factions with durable units that can hold objectives are king.

We had one tyranid representative who placed 30th.

Top 3 lists are imperium soup, custodes and grey knights.

So overall nothing surprising here but I am curious what the rest of you think about the results.

Just about what I expected. Custodes with their PA book powered by 17 CP is just... hardcore. Would have though some DG to be placed more prominently.

Cant see lists from the link but I have the app if you have questions about other lists. Also yeah kraken isnt the hive fleet I would've chosen.

Was wondering about the winning list, why he chose to soup. Did he use 8E style Guard + Dawneagle Shield Captain spam?

That's just being stuck in last edition. Stealer swing won't win tournaments (as If it did before) now it's a literal points sink into nothing

Winning list was surprisingly sisters of battle and imperial fists.

Cheese is a strategy, and a good one; not a factor in list building. That's how most great generals in history won battles.

On a side note, I am glad they introduced strategic reserves because that HAS actually been a key factor in much of history.

I am pretty sure Grey knights were called Mozza Knights just after I started in 5th. Cheese is delicious and bloating. Too much can ruin anything but all is fair in war. Especially competetive settings where paid entry is a thing.

I hope to get to a GT this year but it will be a smashing and I will love it.
