Ok so I've looked around but I can't find a direct answer to this. So as we all know the 3 data sheet rule only allows 3 of a single datasheet. However I know there are some exceptions to this (troops?) Not sure though. Do spore mines ignore this rule also, being "living bombs". Any clarification would be great.

I don't think there's any other unit in the game that ignores this.

Just ones written into your list. So you're fine with generating as many mines as you like from biovores/sporefield stratagems, etc.
