I am a little confused on the current state of list building.

How many carnifex can i put in a list?

Due to differences in names with screamer killers and thorne backs etc...

can i build a theoretical 28 fex list?

As for the carnifex, you can throw in another 9 for stonecrusher. The rule of three limits you to three of the same datasheet. Carnifex, screamkiller, thorneback, old one eye, and stonecrusher all have different datasheets.

That is what i had thought, but wanted to clarify.
I have 9 screamer killers and OOE, going to start collecting some dakka fex.

Snowflake rule (the one that restricts to 3 demon princes no matter the source).

So the rule of 3 with the snowflake part was added to stop people taking "different" datasheets for the same unit. IE You cannot take 3 Leman Russ datasheets and 3 Armageddon pattern Leman Russ. So it really only applies when it's the same unit with a different name, so it doesn't stack with Carnifex. You can take 3 Carnifex, Screamer killers, Thornbacks and Stonecrushers but not 3 Heavy weapon teams, Krieg heavy weapon teams and 3 Brood bother heavy weapon teams.
