Seeking advice on warrior bomb

Why barbed stranglers instead of VCs ?

They are cheaper, and give the warriors a dedicated role, which is better at killing chaff/horde. This gives me better value in matchups vs horde, as I will double tap the warriors rather than the Hiveguard. Venom cannons are doing what the hive guard do anyway, and I don't need more of that in my list. The +1 to it for stranglers is really nice, often making them hit on 2's.

Heavy bolter profiles I find are actually really quite nice in the meta, decent against marines, decent against drones, Not horrible at shooting T8, because you still wound on 5's, and they're 1 damage, so you don't care about ironstone or other damage mitigation effects.

I don't think Venom cannons are a bad option, but my preference for this list and the results of my practice games just made me prefer the stranglers.

Edit: Also, it doesnt feel so bad to shoot barbed stranglers at a target that has been transhuman physiology'd than venom cannons, your going from 3's to 4's, rather than 2's to 4's.

The Warrior battallion is Leviathan too I assume? Do you run any physiologies, like Enhanced Resistance on the big Warrior units?

On the flip side, you get the feelsbad when you roll the '1' for number of shots. But model-wise it doesn't matter, no one will notice the difference between VC's and BS's so it's nice to just go with what's currently best in the local meta.

Except you instead feel bad because your strangler gets saved on 4s and does 1 damage. VC at least gets through, so end up almost exactly the same against W2, with VC better against W3, >T4 (e.g. cents), >3+ (cover or cents).

BUT when your kronos barbed get off a normal amount, and are enhanced with Simbiostorm, they can produce a high volume of damage.

Xenogenic Acid on a Prime looks like an objectively worse pick than Resonance Barb on a Neurothrope. Care to explain?

The aim is to have a bit / a lot of shooting, a bit of board control, a bit of smiting for what might rush into my face. I want to replace all neuros by triple broodlord but... I guess I really need to be able to rely on the psychic support

I'm just a single organism in our synaptic link, but I think that it is a huge mistake to take Hive Guards in Leviathan if you run a kronos detachment in the same army. I would trade their survivability offered by Leviathan and adaptive physiology for kronos re-rolls. They are to be hidden behind BLOS anyway. Enhanced Resistance goeas to Tyranid Warriors and you hace two very goor units now.

I know, they are usually kronos when I field them, but they die quite easily these days. I may shift them to kronos, indeed... But I want my mal to matter !

Some more screen would be good otherwise it might be a struggle against very melee heavy lists.
The other thing to consider is to swap the mawlock and some points somewhere for 3*biovores.
Also resonance barb does not let you pick an extra power only cast one more. It can still be useful on the Kronos one to help get symbiostorm off though

Right now, I'm feeling like a big advocate for the Failcepter. His new strategem is in a really good spot specifically for T4 boys, considering you have 27 of them he's got a huge tonne of value.

General plan was to Ravener the Jorm Hive Guards and then Onslaught and Lurking Maws them T2.
Warriors hold the line and King of the Hill
Exo and Kronos Hive Guards shoot whatever is most dangerous

First opponent was an ork player, 6 smasha guns, two cars, three planes, three shokkas, lootas and flash gitz. He killed three hive guards T1 with a plane. I won 27-17, destroyed his mek guns at range with the exo for gang busters, ripper swarms engineered and I recond, first with ripper swarms and termagants, then the Malaceptor ran up T3+ and even killed a shokka mek T6. He focused on the maleceptor, the toughest and most expendable unit and that was a bad idea. Almost all warriors died but that was their job.

Second opponent was a double melta knight, disco lord, obliterator, double armiger list. He won 23-22 because I forgot to check the clock and time ran out T4, he only had troops and a MoP left, I had all hive guards still.

Third opponent was a Supremacy suit and I was stupid and lost it 27-18. I should have just thrown everything at it while it being -2 to hit and if anything ever sticks, I'm golden.

The hive tyrant only cast spells and even then it could rarely cast 3 lacking targets, the prime is worthless in this type of list, 2 broodlords would be a lot better instead of them. 
The jorm guards were an idea, but something with fly or faster needs to have Lurking Maws as the visibility requirement of the spell was often a problem. Duh, Hive Guards
The raveners were surprisingly good late game, doing cleanup duty and helping in the T4+ backpush, being so fast and being able to remove minimal size troops.
The maleceptor underperformed as Smasha guns care not about weapon strength and T4, T7 and T8 buffed by the Male benefits the greatest when against marines' appropriately statted weapons.
However it was always targeted and was a nuisance to remove. The Exo flew like a flag Game 2 from multimelta shots but in general it obliterated elite infantry as well as planes and non-T8 vehicles.

I am now trying to increase the cp in the list while experimenting with Mawlocs and Tyrannocytes as cheap and scary screens, as the warriors are durable for their points but they still cost 324 altogether and give away Gang Buster so easily...
