Have anyone tried to play with shooting Carnifexes lately?
I think about larger Kronos detachment with some Carnifexes loaded like that:
Carnifex [119 pts] - Enhanced Senses - Spore Cysts - Heavy Cenom Cannon - Devourers with Brainleech Worms
I saw something like that in a battle report some time ago and started thinking about adding them to my list, becouse I struggle so much with putting them into close combat, and even if I manage to do that, they are just not that impressive to justify the effort of keeping them alive fo the time.

I've run HVC+deathspitter a couple of times in Jorm. They're decent. I wouldn't go Kronos, just because the range is so restrictive if you don't move, especially on the 2nd weapon option.

Kronos makes you want to stand still and shoot. That'll make the devourers next to useless. If you move, there's no benefit to being Kronos. I don't see 119 pts for a HVC turret being that good.

One or two thrown into a take all comers isn't going to change much. I think if you do it you have to skew hard towards a shooting big bug list. I like deathspitters over devourers as well, mainly for the extra range. Also Jormungandr for better defense and the Ignore Cover bubble warlord trait. As mentioned Kronos doesn't help you much.
Regarding if they are good or not, they are an answer to help deal with primaris platforms. They can one shot a lot of primaris models

I like deathspitters over devourers as well, mainly for the extra range. Is that in general or just for fexes? I still love the 24 shots on a flyrant. The extra 8" range is good too, but then flyrants get to drop right where you want them.

I also love the 24 shots on a flyrant dropped in to clear out a backfield

Have anyone tried to play with shooting Carnifexes lately? You could say that. I run 9 in my list. But as mentioned, no sense going Kronos. Full on Jormungandr for the 2+ saves and ignore cover WL trait option. HVC, Deathspitters, ES, SC and Bone Mace.

I bought 2 more recently to get up to 8. I still need to get 1 more but they are so expensive at the moment.

I'm looking at going all in into a shooting list and would like a bit more insight than my limited playtesting

I brought jorm/bladed cog in ITC at 2.5k and was 1-1-1 against marines.
The win was against ultramarines. The tie against raven guard and the loss against a custom chapter that had lots of anti big (I lost all fexes turn 1).
Generally, I find the fexes hard to remove and will be able to do some work over multiple turns. I'm toying with adding a maleceptor to make bolters wound on 6s.

Problem with Fex is they didn't get the points drop they should have so at this point of all the same chassis 'dreadnoughts' they're the most expensive and not particularly good at either ranged or CC without buffs. Not saying they're bad just not as good as the competition so you have to do something to stack the odds. Best way to do that is spam them and keep them cheap or add a lot of other bigger nastier things to be scary instead.
I have two like the OP but with Deathspitters instead of Devourers because of the range and as I mainly fight marines the extra S and AP is nice. I find t hey work really well but I only bring the two as of now, and have other things (Exo, Tyranno, etc.) in my army that typically get shot more. As Far as the Kronos ability, the HVC will almost always get it, Deathspitters it depends on range. I usually leave them still if I can the first 1-2 turns then move them forward as their targets become less favorable so to not lose out too much on the re-rolls to hit.
I have also ran them as Jorm but in all reality now that SM get an AP boost turn 1 and still get all their faction traits they kinda counter ours so it depends on their list. Do they have 10 Lascannons and gonna stay in heavy all game? Or do they have light anti-tank and will be switching doctrines T2? Jorm can help you still get that 6+ save even against boosted marines but when your army trait gets countered while they're still packing a few extra rules it's just a tad on the annoying side. Even without the AP boost that 2+ save means most things shooting you you're going to have a 5+/6+ save against so that can save your Fexes hide a few times so it's not a complete loss.
But like most things you gotta spam because the opponents are gonna spam guns so you need enough Fex left alive to do something, and that means you're gonna spend a lot of points. If anything Carnifex are much better in smaller games, like 1,000-1,500 they are great.

Wins against Tau, Chaos Daemons, Knights, Space Wolves, Ultramarines. Post marines didn't change much, BoB gave me a couple of new toys. We don't play ITC, so have that in mind. Here's what I would bring to the next big tournament if I could stand swapping weapons on all my Carnifexes plus buying and painting 3 Walkrants (I'm proxing some stuff): Jormungandr battallion Hive Tyrant - 2 Devourers, Monsterous Rending Claws, Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs Hive Tyrant - 2 Devourers, Monsterous Rending Claws, Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs (synaps, a bit of anti-horde and cc deterrents) 3 Ripper Swarm 3 Ripper Swarm 3 Ripper Swarm Carnifex – Heavy Venom Cannon, 2 Deathspitters with Slimer Maggots, Enhanced Senses, Spore Cysts, Bone Mace Carnifex – Heavy Venom Cannon, 2 Deathspitters with Slimer Maggots, Enhanced Senses, Spore Cysts, Bone Mace Carnifex – Heavy Venom Cannon, 2 Deathspitters with Slimer Maggots, Enhanced Senses, Spore Cysts, Bone Mace Carnifex – Heavy Venom Cannon, 2 Deathspitters with Slimer Maggots, Enhanced Senses, Spore Cysts, Bone Mace Carnifex – Heavy Venom Cannon, 2 Deathspitters with Slimer Maggots, Enhanced Senses, Spore Cysts, Bone Mace Carnifex – Heavy Venom Cannon, 2 Deathspitters with Slimer Maggots, Enhanced Senses, Spore Cysts, Bone Mace Jormungandr spearhead Stratagem: Progeny of the Hive Hive Tyrant – Heavy Venom Cannon (relic The Venomthorne Parasite), Monsterous Rending Claws, Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs Carnifex – Heavy Venom Cannon, 2 Deathspitters with Slimer Maggots, Enhanced Senses, Spore Cysts, Bone Mace Carnifex – Heavy Venom Cannon, 2 Deathspitters with Slimer Maggots, Enhanced Senses, Spore Cysts, Bone Mace Carnifex – Heavy Venom Cannon, 2 Deathspitters with Slimer Maggots, Enhanced Senses, Spore Cysts, Bone Mace Exocrine – adaptive physiology: Dermic Symbiosis Exocrine – adaptive physiology: Dermic Symbiosis 2000 pts 9(8) CP Low on CP but this list don't have too many tricks to use them on. Sometimes I take the ignore cover warlord trait and park a walkrant between the Exos, but usually I go for double physiology. Maybe going Broodlords/Neuro would be better, but I kind of like the Walkrants. They are decently costed and messes with target priority. People tend to underestimate how much shooting this list can put out.

I'm thinking this wouldn't work ITC because you will be outscored and give up max secondaries. My brain is grinding away on the possibilities.
