Rules clarification - pivoting, movement, etc.

I had a game vs Astra Militarum last night. It was a friendly game but using competitive rules. I don't have that much games in, and I've just started to use the pile-in/consolidate touching techinque.  As every mistake is a very costly one on my Hormagants, I wanted to check one situation regarding Fall-back.

Can a tank disengage in this situation, moving sideways (in this case, upward)? I mean, there is no need/rule to pivot him to simulate realistic movement?

yes, as long as his movement provides the vehicle the space to actually make 1" out of combat.
