Which monstrous creature came out ontop

Just curious what people think about which of our monsters came out on top?

Im quite curious about a toxicrene now tbh. The model is amazing and the stratagem could actually be an answer to "wow every model now has fly and my genestealers just get cucked"

Exocrines, and i'd say scythed hierodule, seems odd but he got the much needee buff with adaptation to invulnerable and scaling profile, slam feel no pain of him and you have a truck that actually tanks fairly enough

my 2nd pick would be maleceptor for the -1S stratagem since S4 weapons are so proliferate

As much as I love the Exocrine, I feel nothing got specifically better because our units shouldn't be good at the cost of CP (provided the Exocrine was good before Blood of Baal). Toxecrine and Haruspex now slightly better in CC? Means squat when you are still slow and get shot off the board. Not to mention they go right back to awful when you don't have the CP for them.

The exocrine got better not just because of the stratagem, though that is a significant part of it. It also got a points drop along with tcyte to make a second turn drop to burn some marines. The Kronos spell works well with an exocrine with in built +1 to hit. Finally some improved defense via adaptive biology 5++.

Exocrine got better because of yet another points drop, adaptations and the Kronos psychic power. The "counts as standing still" stratagem is just icing on the cake.

I think the haruspex and exocrine came out on top. The Haruspex needed a way to hit better and they did that. They also made it so his Ravenous Maw can be upgraded with Murderous Size. I've never had a problem getting him there by T2 since Metabolic Overdrive is a thing and he's T8 with regen capabilities. Good stuff.

Maybe the next game I play after BoB and CA, I will go back to Nidzilla and try them all to see what works.

I agree on the exocrine. But consider the so much missed mawloc dropping in that marine 6” bubbel around the chaptermaster/father ferros/bannerdude handing out mortal wounds on 2+ and 3 mW on 4+. Going from completely useless to ok in some matchups is big. In combo with GSC he can help with a possibility do Null
deploy even more and do an even more intimidating beta strike since he can start on the board and burrow.

You basically get a lord discordant harder to hide, requiring an adaptation and a CP in game to hit, and requiring a delivery system. OK with toughness 8 you get more resilience, but I doubt the poor Haruspex was really given what it needed. 150 points for a non shooting, large footprint MC with no invul... i have the model and love it, and it's lore, so i want to try it out. I will, and I hope I will be proven wrong

I personnally think Mawloc because i know I will be rolling hot with +2 on the MW rolls !! I just know it !!!

Agreed, for 1CP a Mawloc can do about the same damage you used to get from taking two of them. Makes it more effective if there's limited space to deepstrike into too.

Toxicrenes are looking promising because preventing fall back makes other units much more effective. The amount of times I've lost 'stealers or a Broodlord stuck out in the open...

Behemoth Hive Tyrants are looking like a real contender to me too. With melee weapons, Monstrous Size, and the new charge bonuses they can be doing some real damage from a deep strike.

Going up to S7 with Monstrous Size is still one point short of being really good, which is annoying. And the cost for dual ScyTals is also annoying.

S7 Rending Claws against T7 targets are amazing, though (50% goes to 75% successful wounds with the reroll).

Tyrant:Our swiss army knife just gained about 12 new whatitz. Now can do basically anything quite well, opening up a range of new fleets and weapon configs. The winged version is no longer automatically better with Jorm being spicy.

Swarmy: The shephard can now enjoy herding around monsters of all kinds instead of just Genes and OOE.

OOE: With the boost to Behemoth and Kraken he can actually open up some options or have 2 traits that can benefit. Ex. Scytals -1 and regen 1W for 2W recovery and -4talons. Harumph!

Tervigon: They Terviwent and didn't do much for options here, but access to 5++ with a sea of 6++ isn't hurting anything. Crushing claws could have used a drop or get rid of the - to give a bit more punch but, you weren't taking the allmother for her combat prowess were you?

Haruspex: Might actually eat more than a few guardsmen, but a little trickier to sort than some of the others.

Maleceptor: Obvious new defense buffer with -1S within 6", but probably tied for new versatility with the Tyrant. ++ units usually are a good thing in a -4AP meta.

Carnifex: The mini swiss army knife can basically mario now. Whatever you need it can probably muster.

Trygon/Prime: Dug itself out of the hole of no T1 deepstrike it was born for and now can be a right proper taxi. Although not as obvious as the pod, a melee alt, that can be much more reliable at charging.

Exocrine: Most improved player? With any luck this was the push it needed to get it to the tables. Many options, and begging to be Kronos.

Tyrannofex: Price cut and defensive buffs available outside of Leviathan. Bring on the Fleshborer Hives!!!

Mycet..Tyrannocyte: 33% off, just might be enough to give it a break. Everybody wants to ride the bug bus now.

Sporocyst: It exists

Now let's see if they can phase the meta that is used to blowing apart T8 4++
