For a shooty pure Nids army it seems okay, since they tend not to be as CP heavy as GS sling or gsc.
In most games I've played there are 1-2 choice ruins for camping in each deployment zone and if i can knock out one with an objective it seems pretty solid.

Has anyone got experience with it?

Never used it.

However there are plenty of units that will scout forward into terrain or castle up in a ruin or what have you, some with a +2 cover bonus, and can be a real pain to dislodge via shooting. You see something like this getting set up, and by all means rain on their parade.

It's not something you're going to build a strategy around but definitely pop it off if the opportunity presents itself.

Nowadays if you have a good target (space marines camping a ruin), they're going to annihilate you off the table if you're in range. It's nice if you're T1 and gamble on going first. I prefer to just use HG from 36" away.

I used it once against Necron, because my opponent deployed all of his army in one big ruins. Nobody uses this stratagem, so he didin't expect that...

That's what i was hoping for (surprise factor), in the end there wasn't a good opportunity to use it. The only opponent who placed a load of trips in one ruin was raven guard and the stratagem specifies saving throws.
Still I will keep it in mind for the future.

Basicaly that was one of the advantages of stratagems at the start of 8th. Instead of paying points for flufie rules and gear you would rarely use, you got a floating pool to use when the opportunity presented itself.
