Mind eater, character assassination?

Looking through the Warlord traits I took a second look at Mind Eater and had the idea for a good assassin bug, curious if anyone else has tried this or had similar ideas. So when you kill a character you can select a unit with 3" and move/advance again, well you're always within x" of yourself for abilities so you can target yourself with this. So have a fast Bug such as a Flyrant or Broodlord move out to charge a character, bad touch them, and retreat back to your own battle line before they have a chance to respond. It's easier to do with a Flyrant since it can move quickly and ignore enemy units, but the Broodlord might have a better chance to actually kill the character, and needs to hide behind your units to keep it safer.

There are some stratagems to help with this too, Voracious Appetite, Implant Attack or Adrenaline Surge to ensure whatever you're fighting does get nom'd. For added fun if you really need to hide deep within your lines you could kill a character, Mind Eater move away then since you're not within 3" Overrun to get to the other side of the board! I'm unsure if there have been FAQs to disallow moving twice in the same phase so this may or may not work.

Simply put jump out, charge an unsuspecting character, murder them to death, then run back to your own army in the blink of an eye.

That's a really interesting strategy. I tried to calculate it out and I'm seeing about 8 damage on average that a broodlord would put on a MEQ character. The only issue I see is getting the broodlord into range pass the screens that people will deploy.

That will depend on how big the screen is, most people I play against only have 1-2 units as screens.. so this depends on the screen size and blocking terrain. When using Kraken possibly Opportunistic Advance, assuming you roll at least a 4 on the 3D6 giving the Broodlord 16" movement he could skirt the screen, charge in then Mind Eater plus Overrun to retreat the way he came in? 4's again for advancing does give him a total 24" worth of movement to retreat with, so the risky part will be securing the charge.

You're basically doing the Charge Overrun Adrenaline Surge combo, but with a WLT that's a lot harder to get off.

Honestly the main reason I was looking at it at all was because I think our warlord traits are a little underwhelming so I was trying to find some use for them, and that's when I noticed this. Not saying it's a perfect strategy but in the right circumstance against an unsuspecting opponent it could be very effective. Most the people I play against have a captain hiding behind a shoot unit or a chaplain behind assault marines so in those games shooting past the screen to nom the buff character could be a good play. Also if done right you could pull off this and the Overrun Adrenaline Surge combat at the same time, as long as there is a gap to get at a character and two units close together. Not a perfect 10/10 but it's just another tool in the tool box.
