Clarification about overrun+adrenaline surge combo

So you can charge enemy unit after using overrun by using adrenaline surge if I am correct. But what unit can you charge after using AS? Can you only fight a unit you declare charge against originally?

I only discovered this combo few days ago and I am not 100% sure how this exactly works. So if somebody awesome can explain this and answer the question I had it would be great and very appreciated 🙂

You need to declare your charge in the charge phase. The way this would work in practice is something like the following

1) declare a charge on two units that are far apart
2) successfully charge one unit
3) wipe the unit out and not be within 3" of an enemy
4) use the overrun strategem and move within 3" but outside of 1" of the second unit
5) use adrenaline surge to fight again, pile into the second unit and conduct your attacks

Important note is that you don't need to declare a charge to pile in/consolidate on a unit with adrenaline, just to hit them: very important for touches/hostages.

So I've never done this but I'm assuming the plan is to use Overrun to get next to something and Adrenaline Surge to pile in because when you "Fight again" you start from the top of the fight phase tree, however since charging is a separate phase you cannot charge again. Since you still have to follow the rules of selecting targets you can only attack a unit you declared as a charge target in the same turn, you have had to already declared them a target from the beginning.

But you cant charge unit more then 12" away. Is your second charge target (target you charge when using AS) then limited within 12" of original place you started when you charge the first target?

If you want to hit them, yes.

You can do the process on someone outside of 12", but since you couldn't charge them, you can't hit them.

I've noticed a tendency on the part of many of my opponents to declare charges against as many targets as they have within 12" and then pick whichever one their charges can reach.

Yeah, if I don't have to worry about overwatch (or charge shenanigans), I just declare on everything within 12".

It doesn't matter because 40 points of guard will nullify our most viable stratagies. Just quit and play a race approved by GW like marines

If 10 guardsmen ruins your gameplan then I think you are right in switching army.

I haven't found myself particularly gimped by 40 or 50 guardsmen in any game I play... What u talking about?
