CSM list 2

So a while back I made a post about starting
CSM. Now I actually have a chance to get a few models thanks to my upcoming birthday so I have been theory crafting again.

I definitely want my main detachment to be red Corsairs later backed up by alpha legion havocs and defilers so I started by designing a small battalion to build upon later. In order to keep costs down I am trying to use models I already own. I know this list isn't going to be winning pro tours but I want it to be able to hold its own against competent players with semi serious lists.

I want a lord discordant because as a melee power house he will work great with the legion trait. Then the Daemon prince is there because I already have the model. I have all the things I would need to convert him to be winged if It's considered mandatory. The core is CSM squads for the cp bonus and is 5/5/10 because that is exactly 2 boxes of guys. The decimator is there because being a Daemon engine it synergises with the lord discordant and I already own the model and it looks phenomenal. The berserkers are there to give the force some bite and they work well with the legion trait.

I also have a terminator sorcerer and a squad of 10 old model marines to play around with. Does this sound like a solid starter force?

I think you have the beginnings of something good. I'm a big fan of daemon warped stuff in my CSM so just throwing out there the things I like:
Daemon Engines - obviously pair up with the Disco Lord. I really like the Venomcrawlers.
Master of Possession - not a fan of warpsmiths, fluffwise, but there is a silly trick you can do with the Disco Lord. Sacrifice puts a MW on a unit and heals a Daemon for d3 wounds. But! If the unit you hurt was a warpsmith and the daemon unit was a daemon engine, you heal 3 wounds flat. So since Disco is all 3, he heals for 2 net wounds from this power. Not to mention he heals himself and can be repaired by another warpsmith cuz he's a vehicle too.
Obliterators - you got a sorcerer in termie armor, which is great. DS both in a good position, cast prescience and just unleash. If you take the MoP, he can have a power that lets you reroll the randomness of the oblit guns a little bit. And if you make the oblits slannesh, they can use the shoot twice strat.

Do obliterators benefit from the alpha legion trait or not? They are starting to sound very appealing. Throwing a -1 to be hit on top of it all sounds too good to be true. I might have to do my future spearhead with them over havocs, or maybe some of each.

I came up with a slightly revised list with an expansion for a second battalion planned. Does it seem sound?

Edit: the cultist squad should be in the Alpha legion detachment to make it a legal battalion.

Obliterator are infantry and thus benefit from the alpha legion trait yes.
Also, since you're taking a disco lord and at least two other daemon engines I suggest the soulforged pack specialist detachment from vigilus ablaze.
+2" movement to daemon engines within 6" of the wl trait, a stratagem to advance and charge with a daemon engine (decimators don't get legion traits)
Accessed for 1cp. 2cp if you want to make the sorcerer your warlord for the reroll 1s on psy test trait and give the disco lord field commander.

So, if you wanted, you could move and advance a 14" disco lord. Move a 10" decimators, advance the other, then warp time the slow and dive tackle with the disco and speedier decimator. All while firing what I think is a solid backfield firebase you have going. Add in oblits dropping with their guns and I think you'll do good.
Definitely keep the oblits as alpha legion. You can use the strat to move them into range after knowing whether or not you go first or deeps trike them turn 2 to punish any big threats

Thanks for the tips, the list has evolved again since this and lost the obliterators thanks to lack of accessible models and gained a leviathan dread. Also dropped the zerkers and gave one squad of havocs full lascannons for all my T8 hunting needs. I do like the idea of the soulforged detachment since the advance and charge not working on decimators was a major drawback. That extra 2" movement also sounds super juicy. I did also change one storm laser out for a butcher cannon as well though since storm lasers aren't sold anymore.

I figure the wingless daemon prince will walk up with the leviathan matching its movement and giving it reroll 1s and warptime if needed to get into combat easier (Leviathan is drill/ butcher array).
