Hello!
It's been quite some time since I've been on the board here, largely due to an extended hiatus from the hobby, and a lot has been going on lately. I didn't forget my old nerdy haunts though, and I've become involved in something that I think has the potential to do a lot of good. I actually had the chance to meet a young lady and her family who are going through a lot medically speaking, and while they've been able to tackle the problem financially up until now, the most recent surgery she's had to undergo has been exceptionally expensive and they just can't do it on their own. Surgery on your brain steam, skull, and spine tends to be pretty costly in most places, and in this case the combination of the two afflictions requiring surgery is rare enough that only a handful of doctors in the US can tackle the problem, and they even get cases from Canada and overseas on top of native residents.
I was initially approached by an author friend of mine, AM Freeman, about helping to get together a collection of short stories to give as a reward to people who donated to help this woman and her husband out of a financial pit, and so helped edit an Anthology of short stories and added one of my own. I'm actually Logan Lewis in the list of authors in the link below. Twenty authors all donated stories for the project and it took the combined efforts of a lot of people to pull this off, but we have a complete digital anthology of short stories, all with the theme of overcoming overwhelming odds. They range from Fantasy to standard fiction to sci-fi, and are well done and professionally compiled.
Right now we're just trying to get the word out so that our work can actually do the good we created it for. All the details are in the link below, and if you have further questions please ask.

I know we here at the Hive are more used to BEING the impossible odds when it comes to storytelling, but hey, they're good reads regardless. Even a dollar (I think that's the minimum on GoFundMe, not sure though) still gets you the whole book in digital, and sharing costs nothing.
