CSM question/ advice.

With new chaos models on the horizon and Abbadon in for a big rework, what is the potential future use for the old Abbadon model. I have a small CSM army and in it is the old mini Abbadon. Will he still be useable when the new CSM codex rolls out or will he be unusable due to the huge size difference.

Bonus question, what would be the best way to turn my small chaos party into a reasonable fighting force? Currently I have:

Decimator engine w/ Siege Claw and Storm Laser
10x CSM w/ aspiring champion (plasma pistol and power claw), banner of something and a flamer.
Daemon Prince (No Wings although I could convert to be winged)
Chaos sorcerer w/ terminator armour, power stave and combi melta
Abbadon the Despoiler (old)

I understand I need many more troops and I was thinking that I like the look of the alpha legion.

I dont mean to sound snarky, but new models have come and gone. Abby included. Your over a month late to the party.

But to add more units to your army, yes troops. You have 3 HQs and something from FW that I have no idea what it is. Alpha Legion like cultists, that is their fluff. But you need to figure out what kinda play style you want. I like daemon engines so I bought a bunch and have a lot with my Death Guard.

Yeah, I haven't been super deep into 40k lately with exams and stuff going on so I have fallen a bit behind. I quite like daemon engines and tanks and generally big monsters (my other army is nidzilla). The decimator engine is a pretty cheap daemon engine walker that fills the elite slot. Puts out a fair bit of hurt in melee and ranged but is kinda squishy. I just got it because the rule of cool. It is a beautiful model.

Since abbadon can't go in alpha legion, would something like the following be a good concept to start with?

HQ:
Daemon Prince
Terminator Sorcerer

Troops:
Cultists
Cultists
Cultists

Elites:
Decimator

HS:
Tanky Monstery things

If you can find a way to field Black Legion and Alpha, then youre golden for Abby. He makes ALL CSM immune to morale failure, but he only gives his reroll bubble to BL. As for heavy support, there are tanks, daemon engines, defilers are a funky combo of both. I suggest looking up some videos or looking over 1d4chan for some basic overviews of the units so you know what you would like.

And as for using the old Abby model, is it yay or nay?

Use it who cares? If your opponent complains tell them to buy you the new Abby or to shut up.

Guy at our shop has the old Calgar model for his Ultramarines and just calls him Minieus Calgar

Could always use the older model as a Chaos Lord too. Food for thought.

Yh sounds like I will carry on using him. Dont really wanna drop £40 on a new model. Thanks for the input everywone.
