Hi there Hive community,
I've been absent a while from this forum just because I haven't played W40k for a while now. But the reason is I've been working on a webcomic for about two years... and surprise! It's a comic about tabletop wargaming! And since I am sorta proud of the outcome of the first three chapters I have to show it to you, my favourite tabletop community in the world!
You can read it here on Webtoons for free: www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/dice-fairy/list?title_no=107307&page=2
It was actually supposed to be a manga, but when I discovered webcomics and especially Webtoons, which you can publish more easily, I changed the whole thing into an online project.
It is a school romance story about a tabletop club. Main character is Juno, a girl in the year of the final exams. One day Mika, a passionate tabletop player, accidentally recognizes her enormous luck in dice (that's why "Dice Fairy") and drags her to the room of the new tabletop club. There she plays her first game of "Space War" (I can't let them play warhammer 40.000 if someday I want to make this comic big) and gets to know our favorite hobby.
It's gonna be a good mix of hobby stuff, teenager problems and most importantly: fun with friends.
I was inspired by school club anime like K-On and Girls and Panzer and saw that there wasn't anything like this yet for tabletop miniature wargaming, so I took the chance. The Yu-Gi-Oh! manga also was a thing, because it is actually a manga about games and friendship, where originally they were playing Magic the Gathering with simpler rules. This is what I am doing now with W40k -> Space War plus all the relatable hobby stuff that comes with games like this: building, painting, tournaments, rule discussions, codex leaks, conversions, lore and even cosplaying. Just to name a few.
Right now I am writing rules for a credible sci-fi tabletop system and maybe someday this will be more. But right now I am concentrating on doing a good job on the comic.
I am putting a lot of my free time before, after and even during work into this and I am really happy about every kind of feedback!
So please tell me what you think about it and any help is really appreciated!
Thank you!
Zoat
