I really like the crunch of the GSC with the new Codex, and love how the various characters interact with each other. However, I've never been super into the Genestealer aesthetic, and even less so with the use of man-made tech compared to the completely biological fare of the Nids, which drew me to them in the first place. As a result, I'm looking for ways to convert the various units of the GSC that I plan to use to become more fleshy.
From a fluffy perspective, as my preferred fleet is Kronos, I needed to resolve why Kronos would use GSC when their main enemy is Chaos. So far, my story is that the Genestealer Virus released by this splinter causes instant mutation rather than going through the typical GSC cycle (taking liberties hear with justification ofc), with the eventual Patriarch targeting specific individuals to create the various "characters" and others of the GSC. Let me know if I'm getting too blasphemous here.
So far here are the conversions I'm thinking of, but nothing is fixed and I'd love some input from the Hive on where I could improve/go from here:
Kelermorph
Lictor as base model, 3 arms as Warrior Spinefists to represent his fancy pistols, with the last arm slot being a ScyTal to represent the Cultist Knife.
Sanctus
Lictor as base model (the assassin the Lictor should've been), with either a Deathspitter or Venom Cannon to represent the sniper rifle, and just random limbs otherwise. Not sure how to represent his little targeting buddy as of yet. Probably the character I most like out of the new cast for the anti-psyker sniping that just fits so perfectly with Kronos.
Acolytes
I have a bunch of armless Hivestrains around from another age when I was more down for the Genestealer spam, so these will be the base. Planning to use ScyTal as Cultist Knife and Rending Claws as Rending Claws (who'dve thunk), but I'm currently at a loss for how to make a fleshy Hand Flamer. My most recent idea was to Greenstuff a bunch of things similar to the Hive Crone Drool Cannon, but this may be too big to use as a template. I have a bunch of rags/tabards bits to slap on them if they still look too Hivestrainy.
Abominant + Abberants
Honestly other than the GSC iconography these guys are almost good as is barring the non-fleshy weapons. Was thinking to either leave them as is or just replace their hands with the business ends of their Power Picks. Not sure how to make the HIW fleshy for the Hypermorphs while keeping the charm of smacking someone with a stop sign. For the Abominant, I was thinking of replacing his hammer arms with a BioFlail from the Stonecrusher Carnifex since that never gets used anyways on my Stonecrushers.
Primus
This is where it starts getting difficult, since using a base Genestealer didn't seem quite appropriate. Debating on whether to use an old CSM body from my bits box, and find some raggedy cape (maybe the Chaos Terminator Lord's?). For the weapons, I was going to use a Devourer for the the Needle pistol (closest thing to a Needler from Halo in the fleshy department IMO), a Warrior bonesword, and a Broodlord claw since I have some extras (if you haven't figured it out yet I make alot of impulse bitz buys xD)
Magus
Also tough in that I'm not sure what to use for a base, so this may end up as another CSM body. Perhaps my biggest struggle is that I have no idea how to make a fleshy staff look appropriate, or any other defining traits to make him not confusing to identify.
Clamavus
Originally my plan here was to use a base Genestealer and make a satellite dish of Mawloc mouths like here, but this would just be waaaaay too big. My current idea is to instead put a spare Zoanthrope torso on the back of the Genestealer and make it look kind of pipe-organy like the old Emperor's Children Lord's backpack. Not sure how else to represent something sonic/noisy, especially since so many Tyranid heads are already screaming.
I would love to hear comments/critique/ideas from the Hive on how to proceed. If anything this will be quite the learning experience in using Greenstuff. Thanks in advance!
