3D modelling software for terrain/modifications

Hey hive mind,

I'm getting my new 3D printer in the mail this week and am itching to start cranking out some new custom bits, terrain, (mycetic spores since GW still has no model for those) however I'm going to have to use some CAD software to make some cool new biomorphs for my bugs. What do you all use to design and polish 3D designs? I used Rhinoceros 5.0 back in the day, but haven't worked with CAD in years. Any recommendations? Preferably something that doesn't have a super steep learning curve, I'm no dummy but I have limited time these days.

Hi, lucky you yo have a new printer...
The easiest program out there may be Google SketchUp, it's freeware. Then you will need a plugin and Cura un order yo create the model for the printer.

The problem are the organic shapes. But for terrain is more than fine.

There are lot of databases with free models, you may have a look at them also!

While it's not CAD, thingiverse is a good place to go for free 3d printing files.

I've been able to find lots of smaller (gaunts/stealers) and more common big (carnifex) creatures on thingiverse, but I'm unfortunately faced with the daunting task of having to model things like the exocrine and the other more exotic bugs myself. I'm hoping to print a 3D scanner but that won't get me a precise model so a lot will need to be polished up myself. I'll have to try sketchup, I've also been recommended blender and FreeCAD. Let me know if you have any other ideas or come across anything!
