Converting Tervigon to a Tyrannofex

Hello All,


So as the title says I have been given a rather good Tervigon but it been glued together with gw plastic glue so its rather solid but I would rather have a Tyrannofex with a acid spray (which I have spare). Is there any way/method that I would be able to remove the claws and the extra part on the underside without doing too much destruction to the model so I can replace it with the acid spray? 

Normally I would have a hack at it myself but being as the Tervigon is rather good I didn't want to lose the Tervigon to a bad attempt at trying to make a Tyrannofex.

The short answer, no.

The problem is that plastic glue works by dissolving the plastic to create a weld. If it is in fact welded, then there isn’t much you can do. You should look at the joints to see if they are welded before you proceede.

If it is welded then the best way forward would be to get a fine saw and make a clean cut on the limb as close to the joint as you can. If you want to swap between tervigon and tryannofex then you would make a clean cut around the same spot on the acid arms and add your magnets. If you just want the traynnofex then you would use a pin vice/dremmel/fine drill bit to clean out the socket, then add the acid arms.

If it is not welded but glued on with “proper” glue then you can try an un-curing agent or just stick it in the freezer overnight and mussel them off.


In my opinion, if you have the means to purchase another tryannofex I would just do that. This is not a simple process and can produce questionable results. But if this is the direction you want to go, that is how you would do it.

Oh, and the belly, good luck with that.

Ideally you’d want to cut that off as cleanly as possible. I think everyone on this forum knows that isn’t going to happen. The best thing may be to use some green stuff and sculpt something on the belly to make is less tervigon-ish. Or if you’re good at basing you could base him in tall grass or shrubs that mask his belly. Either way, covering it up somehow would probably be better than removing it.

Alternatively, if you make it interchangeable with the tervigon then you just tell everyone the belly is like that for when you run him as a tervigon. Nobody will give you flak for trying to make the most out of your models.

Yeah, I'd say just leave it as a fat t-fex. I believe that's what gigasnail does and nobody's ever commented on that.

A person at the FLGS that I frequent even just took a modelled tervigon and put the gun he was using down on the base. I thought it was a good solution. Please post what you end up doing though as I'm in the same situation.

oh no, i magnetized mine. the belly comes off. i stopped bothering with it because it's awkward as all get out.

i just run a skinny tervigon instead.

Well thanks for all of the ideas guys it seems I am not the only one with the Tervigon swaping idea.

To be honest I am still a little unsure as to do anything with the model, I do like to make the most out of my models but I don't want to end up trashing a perfectly good Tervigon, when I could just buy another Tyrannofex (which I may end up doing)

The fiddliest magnetization I ever tried. I gave up and bought more models. I now have 3 t-fex (rupture and acid swaps are easy) and 2 tervs. I had 3, but seeing as how they are trash, I just made it into a t-fex.

This is totally doable. I did just this with my painted Tervigon.

Snip the claws off, drill the sockets out, stick in magnets, test, add a third magnet to the cabling of the acid spray where it joins the body to give additional support.


On the right is my converted 'fat fex' (loving that name), she has a full belly with termigants popping out and a magnetised AS. Surprisingly the termigant helps support the acid spray.

I would have no issue playing against Tombs ‘fat fex’ I can see clearly from the acid spray that it’s a T-fex and not a tervigon. I’d recommend following his example
