So we have all been hearing Orktober. At first I was excited as they needed a huge revamp in the old as dirt kits. Then we started watching the days go by. Regular unadvertised runs of codexes had more previews spanning weeks in a month than Orkz have. Nevermind the repeated rules and pics of the same buggies again and again.
1. Guessing that prerelease goes up the 27th means it's actually not Orktober at all. Just a hype train that has no bearings, that they had to squeeze in because Orkvember just didn't fly. (Ba-doom-chh)
2. Does anyone remember No Man's Sky? Or the Boy that cried wolf? What happens when consumers are lied too? First: "flamers are OP", then "playtested and balanced," then "Orktober," what next? "Year of Slaanesh?" (So next November then?)
3. Making players stallout in anticipation will not be well received when GW is moving Boyz to 32mm. Probably the biggest WTF I read that I actually agree with. T3 is 25mm (except Acolytes) and T4 is 32mm (except Necron Warrior) Time to suck it up Orkz.
4. The leaked traits and Klanz are all so.. Meh. It's going to take a lot of power creep to make them top tier. Fight twice better be a generic Stratagem and they will need some mortal wound output. Add in a good LoW and just maybe something will be somewhat competitive to a Knight.
5. With all the fast moving stuff of speed freaks, I don't think they are going to have any problems getting "stuck in," but whether vehicles become relevant or not will probably not be until CA.
At this point I don't even want GSC until next year. Cramming a release in after the 2nd 3rd+ waves of Orkz would be bad, and clearly Orktober is going into November. There is no way they can preview and drop it all in a week.
So salt aside, anyone else think that Orkz have been overhyped? Or have any issues with how it's being handled? I just want GW to be more conservative with their outlandish statements. You don't need to lie to sell your product guys.
