Dominatrix WIP

My original posts sit below, but I'm going to update this opening post to have a selection of photos loaded right on the page here, in order to save smartphone users excessive extra loading screens. I'll leave all the original links, as I won't imbed nearly as many as I've linked. I've gotten her build done(ish) as of this update, and I'll be posting more images of her as I get into the painting stages. Sadly, my airbrush compressor is busted... So I'll be doing this one by hand... But, I'll pretend it's because I wanted to to heavy detail on the edges of the plates... *grumble... grumble*

So, here we have the Super Heavy Venom Cannon. It's made from an acid spray arm, tyranofex waist, trygon headplate, carnifex backplate and four venom cannon barrels.

I sculpted the armor plates to have a sweeping look, because the carapace on the body will end up having to have a heavily curved and sculpted look.


So, here we have the Ironjaw Fleshborer Hive. And the Ripping Claws. I wanted the arms to be dual purpose, as I picture the Dominatrix as having weak melee, yet it's still bloody huge, so making the arms operate like mantis claws fits the natural flow of the hives from the 'fex kit. And they neatly mesh together. But after all this cutting, (and some work repositioning the arm in an earlier conversation) I decided that I needed much more greenstuff than just filling the holes in the "palms"

So, I created palms, bulked up the finger joints, and found that tiny beads could nearly perfectly match the hives pores. I tried to make the flesh look stretched.


I'm about to get green stuffing the bulk of the body... And I'm gonna have to buy more green stuff it looks like... But here's a few shots of the body structure before the green stuff starts up.... Gawd... I don't know what I've gotten myself into, but damn if I'm not committed now.

(if anyone out there wants to check out my other thread where I discuss my interpretation of the rules for this beast, I'd love some input. Especially on psychic stuff and points costs.)

I'm excited to do this model. I'm about to put on some Netflix in the background and crack into the green stuff on the back carapace!

I spent from my last post until this one getting lost in the third Mistborn audio book... (bloody phenomenal... Just read it.)and I constructed the rest of the hip/shoulder/ brain case. I should have taken photos of the structure under the green stuff... But, I sliced a mawloc headplate, and a carnifex backplate and glued them across a curved skeleton made of clipped scything talon parts. Tipped with hive guard torso halves.

I still need to blend in around the brain case, inside the edges. And the back plating and smokestacks. Then I can move on to.... Blending torsos, covering unused arm sockets with ribs, connecting the birthing belly. Constructing some really un-sexy labia to wrap around the warrior that's going to be popping out.

Whew. Used 7/8 of a pack of green stuff so far... My hands hurt. I'm tired..

Whew, just stayed up and watched like... Half a season of friends, the kings speech, and a Disney flick my fiance was into. I'm almost out of green stuff. And I still need to make so much of the torso. The weight of the model has nearly doubled already.


I figured that the exposed brain of the maleceptor didn't make as much sense for such a big bug. So, I added the armored shroud and brain case.

I'm also trying to figure out some ideas for ammo tubes. I left some small gaps in the edge of the carapace near the mawloc antenna... And there's a small notch in the back edge of the armor plating on the gun. So, I plan to connect them, but I worry about using a wire that has elasticity... I was going to use guitar strings, but I may try straightened paperclips.

So, she's finally posed, and I'm getting into final detail sculpting.

On the head. The entry says 'ripping claws and fangs' but I'm taking that to mean 'ripping claws' and 'hypodermic fangs'. Just to expand her weapons arsenal and fill the description for the 'panoply of bio weapons'. I still need to greenstuff the connections to the bio-hoses to the 'hypodermic fangs'. I played with her arm posing a lot. In my early attempts I placed her claws up like a boxer guarding her face, but it obscured too much detail, so I went with prowling/shooting. It also shows the warriors spilling out of her belly much better.

Also, I added ridges on the armor plating, trying to extend the look from the hive guard torso halves. I'll probably extend this look down her back, (even though the trygon torso mostly has this flare already.)

Still need to do:
-hip connections, (they look janky, and I can make cool looking muscle connections there.)
-the underside of her shoulder plates, the contours aren't right yet.
-I want to take the "cross hatched" tyranid flesh up onto the bran case, so I can sell the illusion that it's flesh around there. (I need to find liquid green stuff.)
-the entire lower leg section and tail, and armor plating there...


Whew.


I'm so happy with how she's coming out.

Well i have to say it looks pretty damn good! If we ever get a Dominatrix LoW model from GW, i hope it looks like this. Fantastic work, looking forward to seeing the finished painted model.
