Deathspitter with slimer maggots

Im just confused on what would represent this on a Flyrant. Having trouble finding this online. My google searches are probably bad.

Just bought the GW model and was blindsided by the whole only four sockets deal. Went ahead and drilled the legs off to keep the limb number at 6, but the guns dont come on the sprue! The devourer seems straight forward so wont ask about that.

I have an old (carnifex i think) deathspitter that's pretty big but i dont have a matching pair. Any. Examples would be awesome so i can keep the WYSIWYG

The monstrous sized deathspitters only come in the carnifex box. They are a matching pair with one for each arm. If you want to go "by the book" that's what you would use.

If you don't have those then you could alway go the conversion route. The warrior sized deathspitter is a tad small, but it should work. The problem is that the warrior arm is too small for the tyrant, so you'll have to mate the deathspitter to a proper tyrant arm.

Honestly, there are enough big deathspitter arms around that you could probably find one without too much effort. You could ask around here or just keep it in mind the next time you or a friend pick up a carnifex.

Thanks a lot for the reply it's been driving me nutso. I have crushing claws for carnifex that i was going to use. Dont know if going twin linked devourers or deathspitter would count for wysiwyg but i dont think so. I have done 0 conversions so i have no green stuff yet and no experience. Seems easy enough though and i had fun drilling out my flyrant legs and was really proud i didnt screw the model up.

Ill take your advice and use the carnifex DS and just look for a second one somewhere and let my opponent know what my situation is!

Most people don't know what tyranid weapons look like. So long as they are guns and not scything talons, most people are pretty easy going about WYSIWYG on tyranids. Tell your opponent before the game starts and everything should be fine.

Oh, and if you're going to use green stuff be sure to dip your fingers and tools in water before applying green stuff. It helps.

Good tip I wouldn't have even thought to dip them in water. One last question: is wysiwyg important for sanctioned events?

I gave up on sanctioned events 15 years ago. I’ve moved passed the cutthroat phase of the hobby and sanctioned events are no fun if you’re not out to win it all. Other members may be able to give you a better answer.

That being said, very few people have an issue with WYSIWYG on conversions. If it looks good then many people will give you some leeway.

They're especially lax on nids because nobody outside if mid players have any idea wtf the weapons are supposed to be and the kits don't come with half the options.

Even most tyranid players get confused on the weapons. I ran pyrovores as biovores in an ITC event and no one even noticed. I was even running legit biovores too.

Oh my lord. Did u do that on purpose? Thats pretty funny i feel like people would notice however if ur not attacking the biovores i guess u wouldnt even check rofl

They really do look pretty similar. I was running like 9 biovores and didn't have them all painted so I grabbed pyrovores off the shelf. I also had OOP biovores in case anyone bitched, but didn't want the hassle of explaining that the old snub nosed biovore really is the same unit and a legit model sold by GW. Not like anyone has ever played pyrovores, most non-tyranid players haven't seen one.

pyrovores are a better looking model , but from what i understand they are a bit useless to run

Ive never used owned or fielded pyrovores myself. In my head they seem like a good. Objective holding unit. If you have 3 thats 3d6 auto hits and they spray acid when they die! I thought itd be fun to bring them in a trygon to melt someone down and charge letting them die for extra damage lol.. But i totally see now how they look the same and how they arent that useful

But i guess Easy biovore conversions then eh?

They aren't as useless as previous edition, where they pretended for the worst unit in 40k, but still not the top. They're a pretty long range flamer (long enough for deep strike flaming), the cheapest Elite slots for us and yes, work well as Biovores too.
